The Hungarian Grand Prix was full of drama, providing a new Grand Prix winner and some particularly emotional outbursts during the race.
Oscar Piastri became the fifth Australian to win in Formula 1, leading teammate Lando Norris over the line in slightly controversial circumstances.
They were joined by Lewis Hamilton on the podium as he held off Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc to stand on the rostrum for the 200th time in F1.
However, further down the grid, there were plenty of gripes over strategy and the performance of the car.
Martin Brundle and David Croft were commentating on the race for Sky Sports F1 and reacted to one driver having a particularly tough time.
Aston Martin are a manufacturer who have expectations to be much more than just a midfield team.
Lawrence Stroll has put a huge amount of money into the project and Aston Martin have some of the best facilities of any team in the paddock.
They’ve also moved quickly to secure their driver line-up for 2025 and beyond, retaining Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll.
However, Alonso would have signed up to stay at Aston Martin expecting to be racing from podiums and victories rather than fighting over the final point in a race.
Brundle believes that the £275,000-a-week driver is getting fed up at Aston Martin with their lack of progress after he missed out on a top-ten finish once again.
It’s not the first time this season Alonso has been unhappy during and after a race suggesting that things aren’t going as swimmingly as expected for the Silverstone-based team.

Martin Brundle comments on how unhappy Fernando Alonso sounds at Aston Martin
After being told about the gaps to the cars behind him on lap 15, Alonso said on the team radio: “I don’t want to know man, we lose the race with everybody.”
Hearing that message, Brundle said: “He’s not happy, is he? He’s not a happy driver lately.”

Later in the race on lap 26, Brundle expanded his comments and said: “Fernando Alonso when he re-signed for Aston Martin was not expecting to be racing the Haas midway through the season.
“That’s why we’re getting these quite regular now, fed-up calls from him.”
Croft: “It’s a mark of Aston Martin falling away and Haas very much improving under Ayao Komatsu.”
Alonso finished the race in 11th, protecting his teammate Stroll who took the final point at the Hungaroring after the Spaniard was put on a far from ideal strategy.

Aston Martin working behind the scenes to improve their F1 car
One of the regular themes of the last 18 months for Aston Martin has been their lack of in-season progress.
Aston Martin started 2023 as the second-fastest car on the grid with Alonso securing eight podiums across the campaign.
However, they lost ground throughout the year with updates attached to the car failing to make any tangible impact.
Aston Martin want Adrian Newey to solve these issues and are willing to offer him a bumper contract once his time at Red Bull comes to an end.
Andy Cowell has already joined Aston Martin despite being wanted by the rest of the paddock and alongside the likes of Enrico Cardile and Bob Bell should have a very positive impact over the next few seasons.
Pressure is building on one key director at Aston Martin due to the lack of progress their making on the track due to their upgrades.
Alonso has never been shy to let his feelings be known when things aren’t going his way and he’ll be hoping Aston Martin can close the gap to the top four teams after the summer break.
