Adrian Newey isn’t expected to announce his plans after leaving Red Bull until after the summer break, but teams are continuing to make their case that the design genius should join them next season.
Red Bull have been caught up by McLaren this season and the front-row lock-out from Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri at the Hungarian Grand Prix demonstrates just how quick they are next season.
Adrian Newey is no longer working on Red Bull’s Formula 1 car and over the next 18 months before the next set of regulations are introduced, the F1 paddock will see how much of an impact his absence is going to make on the current Constructors’ champions.
The rest of the grid will have quickly realised the opportunity in front of them to lure Newey in before 2026 and given his track record over the past few decades, while that’s not a guarantee of success, it won’t do the development of their new car any harm.
A report from F1 Insider has shared more details about one team’s push to bring Newey in as quickly as possible.
Ferrari have been linked with Newey for some time but the prospect of him joining Lewis Hamilton in Maranello next year appears to be fading.
Instead, Aston Martin appear to be emerging as the favourites to hire the 65-year-old.
Lawrence Stroll recently had dinner with Newey and Newey received a private tour of their factory.
Aston Martin’s facilities are considered the best in F1 and the team being built behind the scenes at the team might really appeal to the legendary designer.

Lawrence Stroll preparing an incredible contract offer for Adrian Newey
The report from F1 Insider talks about Newey’s future and where he might end up when his Red Bull contract eventually expires.
They believe that Ferrari have been put off making a move for Newey as they want the team to continue being the main focus, rather than a driver or a member of the backroom staff.
It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out once Lewis Hamilton arrives considering he’s the biggest name the team have signed since Michael Schumacher.
Instead, this has paved the way for Aston Martin to make their move for Newey.

The report suggests that Lawrence Stroll wants to offer Newey a four-year contract worth £21 million a year.
It’s an extortionate figure but one that would fit into Aston Martin’s budget.
That’s because the cost cap doesn’t currently cover either driver and another member of staff which in this case would now be Newey.

Adrian Newey could finally live out his dream of working with Fernando Alonso
There appear to be a few main benefits to Newey joining Aston Martin once his Red Bull contract ends.
Stroll’s offer and persistence in trying to hire Newey shows how important he would be to the team.
This would allow him to build the team he wants around him although Aston Martin’s recent hires – including Bob Bell, Enrico Cardile and Andy Cowell who attracted interest from the rest of the paddock – suggest he might not have too much work to do.
Newey would also get the chance to work alongside Fernando Alonso for the first time in his career.
Alonso is one driver Newey has admitted he dreams of working with and the double world champion would love nothing more than to have a car that’s finally capable of winning Grand Prix.
The Spaniard is currently in the midst of a decade-long wait to achieve his 33rd Formula 1 victory.
It appears as though he’ll have to wait until the 2026 regulations for that to be a realistic prospect, but having Newey working behind the scenes on that car would give them the best chance possible.
