Charles Leclerc received the acclaim of the Tifosi at Monza on Sunday after perfectly executing a one-stop strategy to earn Ferrari a famous home victory.
The 26-year-old is in fantastic form after securing an unexpected podium at Zandvoort at the previous race.
It was a case of what could have been for McLaren with Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris missing out on an opportunity to take the lead in the Constructors’ Championship by finishing 2nd and 3rd at the end of the Italian Grand Prix.

Red Bull seriously struggled at could only score 12 points, meaning their lead has been cut to just 10 points heading to the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
However, small errors continue to creep into McLaren’s race weekends and that may make the difference in both championships.
Martin Brundle was commentating on the race for Sky Sports F1 and reflecting on how both McLaren drivers performed during the Grand Prix.

Norris’s record of failing to lead an opening lap after starting on pole position continues although not in the way many would have expected.
He got a decent getaway and stayed ahead of Piastri through the first chicane.
However, Piastri sensed an opportunity going into turn four and sent it down the inside to claim the lead and compromise Norris’s exit to such an extent that he lost out to Leclerc.

Brundle believes that this move is confirmation that Piastri doesn’t appear set to help Norris win the Drivers’ Championship right now.
McLaren had to implement papaya rules for both drivers to avoid a collision while still allowing them to race.
Norris couldn’t ever get close enough to Piastri to try and overtake him despite being allowed to attempt to undercut him twice.
Martin Brundle now sure Oscar Piastri has ‘zero interest’ in Lando Norris’s title challenge
Reflecting after the race, co-commentator David Croft said: “The big questions at McLaren will be what happened on the first lap, should Oscar have gone for it, did that then hurt our strategy, did we push too hard in that opening strategy [spell] so that we had to commit to a two-stop?”
Brundle replied: “With Leclerc in the middle of them as it ended up, it meant they had to cover that off.

“They didn’t get out front and then control the race.
“I think we got confirmation there that Piastri has zero interest in Lando Norris’s world championship.”
Damon Hill compiments Lando Norris despite disappointing Italian Grand Prix result
Norris will be frustrated that he threw away more points as he continues his unlikely battle to win the Drivers’ Championship.
He managed to finish three places ahead of Verstappen and take the fastest lap while Red Bull continue to struggle.
Damon Hill particularly liked one answer Norris gave in his post-race interview which suggests that he’s beginning to come to terms with the challenge he’s facing.
He’s typically been very negative towards his own performance unless he’s absolutely perfect.
While this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it does seem to put more pressure on himself but his more measured approach may end up benefitting him in the long run.
