Martin Brundle has been full of praise for McLaren driver Lando Norris after another fantastic weekend in Brazil.

Brundle was commentating on the final Sprint Race of the season at Interlagos yesterday.

It was the best chance Lando Norris has had to record his first victory in Formula 1 but it once again slipped away.

The 23-year-old got off the line well, but in the second phase of the start, Max Verstappen got the better of him.

The Dutchman drove off into the distance as George Russell put in an opportunistic move on his fellow Brit to move into second on the first lap.

Norris got past the Mercedes a few laps later but couldn’t reel in Verstappen to challenge for the victory.

Martin Brundle admitted in the latter stages of the race in Brazil that he had been blown away by Norris’s recent form.

He had been put under pressure by Oscar Piastri in the last few Grand Prix but in Mexico and now Brazil, he looks to be showing his experience and exceptional quality.

Brundle hails Norris during Brazil GP

Talking about the young McLaren driver, Brundle said: “There was a time where Piastri was very much challenging Norris and everybody was wondering where that was going to end up

“But Lando has shifted into overdrive since then and is considerably faster around this track it seems.”

Norris was simply sensational last week as he carved his way through the grid after an unfortunate qualifying session.

He was caught out again at Interlagos on Friday as his final run in Q3 was affected by some biblical weather.

The McLaren driver has shown all weekend he’s capable of matching Max Verstappen for pace over one lap.

Brundle believes Norris has reached another level in Brazil and that will excite Andrea Stella and the McLaren team.

With just three races left, Norris will be hoping to overtake Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz in the driver’s standings.

After being in the worst car on the grid at the start of the year, finishing fourth in the championship would be a huge achievement.
