Mark Webber is once again involved in Formula 1 after leaving the sport in 2013.
After spells at Minardi, Jaguar and Williams, Mark Webber is best known for his seven seasons racing for the Red Bull team.
He finished 3rd in the Drivers’ Championship on three occasions, winning nine races and finishing on the podium on 42 occasions.
A decade later, Webber was back in the paddock again but this time in a management role.
The Australian looks after McLaren star Oscar Piastri and will be delighted with his progress over the past 18 months.
He’s already a Grand Prix winner and is matching teammate Lando Norris on a race-to-race basis, causing headaches for those at McLaren who would like to try and win both championships this year.
Webber was a guest on the Formula For Success Podcast and as someone with experience in bringing in new talent to the sport, was examining the rookie confirmed for 2025.
Mercedes will replace seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton with 18-year-old Kimi Antonelli while another Australian – Jack Doohan – steps up from his reserve driver role at Alpine.
Oliver Bearman is set to race for Haas on loan from Ferrari’s junior team but Webber isn’t a fan of the American outfit.

He’s unsure whether under the stewardship of new team principal Ayao Komatsu, they’re set up to help a young driver through their first season in Formula 1.
Bearman may discover sooner rather than later what racing for Haas is going to be like next season following Kevin Magnussen’s ban in Baku.
Mark Webber not a fan of the Haas F1 team ahead of running Oliver Bearman in 2025
Talking about the rookies joining the grid next year, Webber and co-host David Coulthard were complimentary about Jack Doohan.
However, referring to currently the only British rookie entering the sport, Webber said: “But the other [rookie] Bearman [at] Haas, I mean, I don’t like that team for me.
“Like that’s, in terms of an EJ [Eddie Jordan], an Andreas Stela, like these people, even Christian and Toto like they’re racers, you need that.

“The leadership when you’re losing your virginity in F1 is a really important role, I think, who your management is at the team.
“So, Bearman, Haas, he looks he looks seriously rapid. Did well in Saudi in the Ferrari.
“And obviously, Antonelli is in good shape with Toto there. But as you say, Eddie, [they’re] young, let’s see, [F1’s] not a finishing school. They take the oxygen mask off my top of Everest. See how they go.”
Haas set for new driver line-up at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix
Magnussen’s one-race man left some of his F1 rivals stunned but was an accumulation of collisions over the course of the season.
Bearman is the favourite to replace Magnussen but no official announcement has been made at the time of writing.

Davide Valsecchi admits Komatsu’s comments on Bearman this year have surprised him although Webber does believe the 19-year-old deserves to make the step up.
Alongside Esteban Ocon, he’s got a teammate who hasn’t always been the easiest person to get on with.
It’s going to be fascinating to see how he gets on at a team outperforming even their expectations this year.
