Liam Lawson addressed the recent rumours about his participation in Supercars and what his racing goals are outside of Formula 1.

Lawson was linked with a Supercars appearance over the hiatus, but that appeared to be nothing more than rumour and innuendo.

The Kiwi driver has no intention of pursuing other racing ventures during the unexpected season hiatus, and is focused on getting himself ready for the Miami Grand Prix.

Who would win: Liam Lawson in the Red Bull or Max Verstappen in the Racing Bulls?

While there has recently been talk of Lawson possibly replacing Max Verstappen at Red Bull, it appears he won’t follow in the Dutch driver’s footsteps and race outside of Formula 1 for now.

But Lawson isn’t shutting the door on possibly pursuing other racing ventures later in his career, as he does enjoy the idea of being on the road after he’s achieved his Formula 1 goals.

Liam Lawson gives his verdict on possibly driving in other races amid Supercars rumours

Speaking with Planet F1, Liam Lawson spoke about the possibility of participating in Supercars and other racing ventures in the future.

He admitted that he would love to partake in other forms of racing, but once he feels fulfilled with his F1 career, as it is a dream of his to partake in racing outside of F1.

“Obviously, when my life is not so focused on one thing, maybe, and I can actually put the time in to prepare for it would be cool. But, obviously, no real truth to that one.”

“Definitely, I’ve done it in the past, and loved it. I think driving different cars, I don’t think anything really hurts you too much. I think always having that level of adaptability is good.

“I’m lucky that I’ve had the opportunity to do that since I was very young. In New Zealand, I was driving a race car on a race track at 12 years old, which is quite young.”

“I think that’s just such a cool thing. The racing has been really, really good as well. So I like the series a lot. It’s something I would love to do.”

Liam Lawson must try and turn his Formula 1 future around

As things stand, Lawson sits 10th in the drivers’ championship standings with 10 points. While not a bad start, there are concerns that he is currently not delivering on his potential.

Lawson has struggled to outperform Arvid Lindblad, despite the fact that his teammate is a rookie and has less experience than him.

While Lawson managed to do better against Lindblad at the Chinese Grand Prix, Lindblad has been the clear standout for the Racing Bulls this year.

Given how Lawson was demoted to Racing Bulls from Red Bull last year, him failing to outperform his teammate, and a rookie at that, isn’t a good look.

Lucky for him, there are still many races left for him to close the gap and surpass his teammate, and show Red Bull officials that he can be a future driver for them.
