Lewis Hamilton may have followed in Michael Schumacher’s footsteps by joining Ferrari, but he has no interest in replicating his stint with the team.
Ever since he earned his first win with the team, there has been a lot of talk about Hamilton and Schumacher and their Ferrari stints.
Even before he joined them, Hamilton was told he could replicate Schumacher’s success with Ferrari if things went right with them.
Lewis Hamilton is now only missing a Grand Prix pole position for Ferrari 🏆 Predict when it will come?
There’s no denying that Schumacher inspired Hamilton’s decision to join Ferrari, especially considering how successful both drivers have been in their careers.
But even though this decision was inspired by Michael Schumacher, it appears Lewis Hamilton has no interest in copying him at Ferrari.

Lewis Hamilton’s former engineer says he has nothing in common with Michael Schumacher
Speaking in an interview with Formula1.It, former Mercedes and Ferrari engineer Jock Clear spoke about the similarities he has seen between Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher.
Clear admitted that the two drivers don’t have much in common, and added that Hamilton isn’t looking to replicate Schumacher’s success with Ferrari.
“I don’t see any common elements. If there were common elements, we’d say, ‘OK, you have to have this and that to win,’ and we could tell 15-year-olds to go home because they don’t have what it takes.
“They have no common elements. Hamilton is different from Schumacher, Vettel, or Antonelli. They’re people, and each has their own way of winning. Working with them, I realised that you have to adapt: I couldn’t have worked the same way with Lewis, Michael, or Villeneuve.
“You have to adapt. What champions have in common is having nothing in common. Hamilton has enormous respect for Schumacher, but he doesn’t look at what he’s done to copy him.
“He works his own way, even though all drivers look at each other and learn little things. But they find their own path, they have their own character and way of winning.”

How badly will Toto Wolff regret Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari if Mercedes do not win the 2026 title?
Jock Clear says Lewis Hamilton’s win is proof Ferrari can win more
Speaking further in the interview, Clear was asked about Ferrari struggling earlier this season, and whether the drivers were to blame.
“The lack of victories isn’t just down to the drivers. We’ve seen that Lewis Hamilton can win. Ferrari can win, but they need a package like everyone else.
“They need to put together a package on par with Mercedes, Red Bull, and McLaren. There could be surprises in the championship this year. If the engines are levelled, things could change. I wouldn’t rule them out of the fight.”
Even though Ferrari are unsure of their ability to deliver for Hamilton, their performance at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix showed they can have a fighting chance on any given weekend.
Ferrari are set to give Hamilton a boost at the Austrian Grand Prix next weekend, which could further propel him in the championship race.
