Lewis Hamilton’s 2025 season with Ferrari has been a tough affair, with the Briton struggling to bring in the results alongside teammate Charles Leclerc.

Ferrari started the season with high hopes, having come close to clinching the Constructors’ Championship in 2024 before being narrowly beaten by McLaren.

The team made inroads with the SF-25 during the winter break in a bid to improve on last year’s car, and while there has been an improvement in lap time, the team is struggling with an inherent issue that is holding back both drivers in the races.

Leclerc was vocal about Ferrari’s problems over team radio during the Hungarian Grand Prix, in which the Ferrari driver was forced to finish out of the podium places despite having started from pole.

Hamilton has been downbeat when speaking to the media about his time at Ferrari, but a look at his stats compared to his time at Mercedes last year tells a different story.

Lewis Hamilton’s 2024 Mercedes stats compared to Ferrari in 2025

The 2024 season was mixed for Mercedes but during the midway point of the season they were very competitive, with Hamilton winning two races and George Russell also taking victories.

At the midway point of the season in 2025, Hamilton’s average finishing position remains relatively unchanged in 6th place compared to 5th in 2024.

Hamilton also only amassed 16 more points at Mercedes compared to Ferrari, although it’s worth pointing out that the Briton achieved four podiums in the same period of races.

The stats give some context to how Hamilton is dealing with his problems at Ferrari and still managing to produce similar results compared to a car that was more competitive in the same period last season.

Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton want to iron out problems for 2026

The 40-year-old has a contract until 2026 with Ferrari with the option of another season, but there has been speculation over whether Hamilton could call time early on his Ferrari career if things do not improve.

Hamilton likely felt the 2025 season was a good opportunity to stay competitive at Ferrari, and while the team is second-best to McLaren, they have yet to produce a Grand Prix win.

The seven-time world champion won the Sprint race in China, but since then it has been an uphill struggle even with big car upgrades.

As the season enters the second half and more teams shift focus to 2026, Hamilton will want to iron out any problems ahead of next year to ensure his feedback is being taken into consideration when it comes to car developments.
