Lewis Hamilton has been backed to return to the front end of the grid during the 2026 season by Lando Norris.

The 2025 Formula 1 season was difficult for Lewis Hamilton as he made his debut with Ferrari after his shock move from Mercedes.

Hamilton did not win a Grand Prix during his first season with the Scuderia, but heading into his second season, the seven-time world champion could be on for better fortunes.

The 2026 pre-season tests in Barcelona and Bahrain showed that Ferrari are competitive, and could fight with Mercedes for the title during the season.

Lando Norris backs Lewis Hamilton to fight at the front in 2026

Whilst on stage at his ‘Victory Lap’ show, Lando Norris was asked whether Hamilton will be back at the front with Ferrari during the 2026 Formula 1 season.

The British driver believes Hamilton’s experience will help him with the new regulations and backs him to be back at the front and fighting throughout the upcoming season.

Norris said, “It is a different car, and he has more experience than everyone. He has not won seven World Championships; it should have been eight.

“He has not done that, and the way he has done it by only just being good enough then, he has easily got what it takes. It would be cool, I also want to see Lewis back at the top and fighting, which I am sure you will see more of this year.”

Lewis Hamilton is one step away from ‘completing the package’ at Ferrari

Heading into his second year with Ferrari, Hamilton now has further experience with the Italian constructor ahead of 2026.

During a Q&A session, Fred Feret responded to a question regarding what Hamilton needs to have success with Ferrari during this upcoming season.

Feret pointed out how the 2026 Ferrari seems well-designed, and the engine will have benefits at the start of the race, but an off-the-track change is all Hamilton needs.

According to Feret, a new race engineer is all Hamilton needs for the podiums to start coming in during his second season at Ferrari.
