Jerry Bruckheimer reveals one ‘critique’ Lewis Hamilton gave on Brad Pitt after first viewing of F1 film

Formula 1 will take to hollywood next year when the self-titled film starring Brad Pitt is finally released onto cinema screens.

It is the first time that F1 has made an officially licensed film, following the failed efforts of Sylvester Stallone in the late 90s.

Jerry Bruckheimer is co-producing the films along with Joseph Kosinski, following their collaboration on Top Gun: Maverick, with Lewis Hamilton acting as a producer and technical advisor to the production.

Filming has taken place at multiple Grands Prix across the 2023 and 2024 seasons, with modified F2 cars provided by Mercedes taking to the track to record sequences.

An early version of some of the scenes was recently shown to Hamilton, and the seven-time World Champion made a few critics according to Bruckheimer when speaking to Motorsport Magazine.

The film will also star Damson Idries, who plays the part of a young driver alongside Pitt who is the experienced hand being lured out of retirement.

Having seen part of the film, Hamilton has already pointed out some factual errors to Bruckheimer.

“Lewis Hamilton is our partner in this, and he saw part of the movie yesterday. And he gave us a critique of how the drivers actually do various things,” said Bruckheimer.

“The level of specifics that he gave us – like in Silverstone in Turn 3, you’re in second gear, and he could hear with his ear we were in third gear. So it’s that kind of thing that he’s bringing to the movie.

“And also he said Brad, it’s a little too easy for him. So we’re going to make it a little harder. He said when he finishes a race, especially like Singapore, where it’s very hot, these guys can barely get out of the car.”

Bruckheimer added that some of the changes have impacted the film budget: “Sometimes we don’t like to hear some of the things he says, because it costs us more money to fix things! But we’re all in, we want to make it great, and he’s certainly helping us.”

Lewis Hamilton hopeful of Las Vegas bounce back

Hamilton will be hoping that he can bounce back from his disastrous Sao Paulo Grand Prix in which he started from outside the top ten and only managed to finish in 10th, while teammate George Russell briefly led the race before a red flag consigned him to P4.

The seven-time World Champion has spent the days after the race going over the data at his Mercedes factory, in a bid to understand where they went wrong setup-wise in Brazil.

Las Vegas Grand Prix organisers are selling their own ‘Lewis Hamilton package’ for the second running of the race in the famous city.

The package includes a three-day ticket in the West Harmon Grandstands, which overlooks the straights leading into the final corner. Customers will also get a limited edition Hamilton cap along with food and drink throughout the weekend. Initially, this was priced at $1,200 (£951) but that has now been reduced to $672 (£533).
