Former Formula 1 champion Jenson Button has given a rave review to Williams driver Alex Albon after a fascinating race at Monza.
Button took to social media to hail the 27-year-old driver who delivered a phenomenal seventh-place finish.
All eyes were on the front of the grid as Max Verstappen looked to secure a tenth straight victory for Red Bull.
He started the race in second and after a delayed start following Yuki Tsunoda’s break down on the formation lap, Carlos Sainz managed to stay ahead of the Dutchman.
Verstappen eventually took the lead and once he did Sainz and teammate Charles Leclec simply couldn’t keep up.
There were fascinating battles all the way down the grid, but Button wanted to highlight the brilliant drive from Alex Albon at Monza.

The Thai driver was battling with the Mercedes and McLaren’s for much of the race but they simply couldn’t find a way past.
He adds another six points to his tally and Williams’s as they continue to move away from the bottom three teams in the Constructors Championship.
Button hails Albon drive at Monza
Posting on X after the race, Button said: “Monza delivers! Great aggressive racing. Great job by Max, Checo and Redbull. Ferrari put up a good fight.
“@WilliamsRacing & @alex_albon in P7, WOW!
“Mega result, having to defend for most of the race is the toughest way to go racing for a driver, Alex showing he’s got the mental strength.”
Albon has scored every point for Williams so far this season, although Logan Sargeant nearly made his first contribution to the team’s tally.
With just a few laps to go, he was running in 11th when Oscar Piastri and Lewis Hamilton collided.
The Australian needed to pit, briefly promoting Sargeant into the top ten before he was overtaken by Valtteri Bottas and then subsequently handed a penalty.
Alex Albon continues to impress at Williams and Jenson Button won’t be the only person raving about his drive at Monza.

In one of the slower cars on the grid he continues to overperform where he should be on the grid both in qualifying and the race itself.
He’s proving to be a brilliant role model for his American rookie teammate who is continuing to slowly improve.
It’s hard to see a seat in a stronger team opening up any time soon, but teams will be monitoring his future.
He was given his opportunity at Red Bull too soon, but he must be in consideration if and when they decide to move on from Sergio Perez.
