Speculation over whether Logan Sargeant would see out the season at Williams emerged in the Formula 1 paddock
It follows a heavy crash on Saturday for the American during FP3, when he lost control of his Williams exiting the banked Hungenholtz Bocht section after dipping a wheel on the grass.
The moment caused Logan Sargeant to spear off into the barriers, causing significant damage to the rear of his car that he was forced to miss qualifying.
The sheer cost of the repairs is starting to mount up on Sargeant after he also crashed during the Miami Grand Prix. Williams team principal James Vowles has been open about their spare parts situation, while two candidates emerged as potential replacements.
One of those includes Red Bull driver Liam Lawson, who could be given an early chance before a full-time 2025 drive at Williams. When asked about the possibility of Lawson racing for Williams, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko shared his thoughts on Sky Sports Germany.
Helmut Marko shares if he will let Liam Lawson join Williams
Lawson is a potential candidate alongside Mick Schumacher, whose recent experience at Alpine and Mercedes is favourable.
But the German was known for being inconsistent during his times at Haas, with Guenther Steiner remarking that he got rid of Schumacher because he cost too much.
The New Zealander could be a better option for Williams, providing that Red Bull would be willing to loan him out to the backmarker team.
“If it’s good for a young driver and he can gain some race experience we wouldn’t stand in the way,” said Marko.

Liam Lawson plans to be revealed in September
Aside from a potential drive with Williams, Marko confirmed last week that the plans for Liam Lawson within Red Bull will emerge in September.
There is reportedly a specific clause in his contract that would enable Lawson to join another team if they do not offer him a drive in either the main team or Visa CashApp RB.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has assured Lawson that his time will come when RB announced Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda as their drivers this season.
Ricciardo is set to be ahead of Lawson in the queue to replace Sergio Perez, should Red Bull decide in October not to use him for the remainder of the season.
