Members of the Ferrari team reportedly believe that the team’s upgrades for the Miami Grand Prix will change the ‘script’ of the 2026 Formula 1 season.
So far, the Scuderia have made a promising start to the new campaign, with Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton scoring at least one podium finish.
However, Ferrari remain some way off the dominant Mercedes duo of Kimi Antonelli and George Russell, who have earned the Silver Arrows a 45-point lead at the top of the constructors’ standings.
During the April break, teams will have been working around the clock to make improvements in order to close the gap to Mercedes.
The Scuderia are no exception, as it has previously been claimed that Ferrari will bring ‘at least half’ a new car to Miami.

Ferrari staff believe Miami upgrade will change the ‘script’ of the 2026 F1 season
According to Italian news outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ferrari staff believe that the team’s upcoming upgrades could change the ‘script’ of the season.
It has been suggested that Ferrari have been working ‘tirelessly’ to make the SF-26 ‘less vulnerable’ in both qualifying and the latter stages of the race, when the car is running on a near-empty fuel tank.
In addition, the report claimed that there will be an aerodynamic evolution on the SF-26, to improve ‘practically every area’ of the car.
It is believed that the front wing with flap, the wing profile and the bulkheads will all be altered to gain extra performance.
There are also said to be changes to the halo, side edge and the rear wheels, as well as the underframe and the potential introduction of the famous Macarena wing.

What did Fred Vasseur say about the Miami Grand Prix?
Back in Japan, Vasseur claimed that F1 could be in for a ‘different championship’ when the Miami race comes around.
The Frenchman hinted that the high rate of development could lead to the likes of Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull potentially closing the gap to Mercedes.
Vasseur said: “Am I satisfied with this start to the season? Yes and no. No, because our goal is to finish on the podium, but also to win races. This means we have a performance deficit compared to Mercedes, and that’s clear.
“This means we need to do a better job, but, overall, we’re not far off, and we know that Miami could be a different championship.
“We need to continue to score a lot of points, finish on the podium, and not be far behind Mercedes. We’ll need to be close in the championship.
“The rate of development in the world championship will be very high, which is why we’ll need to keep pushing so hard in the coming months to accumulate points and results.”
With Leclerc and Hamilton at their disposal, Ferrari will know that if the upgrades on the SF-26 are good, their drivers will be able to turn their podium finishes into race wins.
