As Ferrari look to close the gap between themselves and Mercedes, they’re eyeing a significant upgrade heading into the Miami Grand Prix.

Ferrari have been hard at work in their factory at Maranello, trying to improve the SF-26 ahead of the Miami Grand Prix.

One of the big changes they’re set to make has taken a while to be implemented, as Ferrari have tested their winglet that rival teams tried to get banned.

Ferrari have also tested their ‘Macarena’ wing and the legality of its implementation ahead of the resumption of the season in Miami next weekend.

With all the changes Ferrari are making, there’s a belief that they’re almost bringing a new car. And this new car is set to feature a new and improved floor and front wing.

Ferrari looking to introduce new front wing and floor at Miami Grand Prix

According to Autosport Web, Ferrari are set to introduce a new and improved front wing and floor for the SF-26 at the Miami Grand Prix.

When specifically discussing the floor, it is expected to not only improve the airflow under the SF-26 but also to reduce the weight of the car as a whole.

Sources within Ferrari also revealed that an improved version of the rear wing flap is being prepared to be installed above the exhaust outlet to improve the car’s aerodynamic performance.

It appears Ferrari are set to make some significant changes to the SF-26 ahead of the Miami Grand Prix to try and improve their performance this season.

But one of these improvements could be crucial to Ferrari’s performance at one of the upcoming races when the season resumes.

Ferrari’s implementation of the ‘Macarena’ wing crucial for Canadian Grand Prix success

As mentioned earlier, Ferrari are also working on getting the proper protocols and conditions fulfilled to try and introduce the ‘Macarena’ wing at the Miami Grand Prix.

One of the most fascinating innovations in Formula 1 in recent memory, the ‘Macarena’ wing has faced several regulatory obstacles.

A key boost that the ‘Macarena’ wing provides for the SF-26 is improved straight-line speed. And while this might not give them a huge advantage in Miami, its true value will be felt the following week.

The Canadian Grand Prix will take place at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, a track famous for having some of the longest straights in the F1 calendar.

If Ferrari are able to clear the hurdles and get the approval to implement the ‘Macarena’ wing, they could reap the benefits of it at the Canadian Grand Prix.
