Ferrari are under intense pressure to deliver a winning race car from the start of the 2026 Formula 1 season.

If they fail to do so, it’s fair to expect that some jobs will be at risk. It has been too long since they won either a drivers’ championship or a constructors’ (17 years to date).

They have had plenty of time to prepare for the 2026 F1 regulations, and they have the expertise to deliver. Ferrari don’t lack the personnel to win.

But Charles Leclerc and the fans have waited more than long enough to have the winning car they deserve. Even Lewis Hamilton has grown fed up, not even 12 months into his tenure.

Even Alpine don’t envy Ferrari

“Even Pierre came up to me afterwards and [said], ‘Wow that looks so bad.’”

Hamilton issued Ferrari a firm warning and doesn’t see any reason why they shouldn’t be improving a lot over the winter.

Leclerc is ‘not satisfied’ with Ferrari in 2025 and wants to see more from them in the coming months. It’s no surprise that he has been linked with a move to Aston Martin recently.

Ferrari will give Fred Vasseur five races to save his job in 2026

Leclerc thinks Hamilton is right about Ferrari and has identified multiple areas where their car must improve in the future.

This season, Ferrari have become a midfield team and gave up on developing the SF-25 well in advance of some of their rivals.

The extra time they can spend on next year’s car should help them hit the ground running at pre-season testing.

Recently, team boss Fred Vasseur was signed to an extension until at least the end of 2027, but their continued downturn in performance begs many questions, including ones about his leadership.

According to Corriere della Sera, the Frenchman has just five races at the start of 2026 to save his job, before he could be under threat.

How the end of the 2025 Formula 1 season has exposed Ferrari’s efforts

With second place in the constructors’ standings on the line, Ferrari have completely fallen apart over the last few races.

Hamilton has failed to finish higher than eighth in his last four Grands Prix, marking his worst run of an already disappointing campaign.

2025 marks the first winless season they’ve had in four years, and it doesn’t look like the final race in Abu Dhabi will change that.

Fortunately, the team are a matter of days away from being able to forget about the SF-25 and leave it in the past.
