Lewis Hamilton issues firm warning to Ferrari after disappointing Qatar Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton had another dismal weekend with Ferrari in 2025 as he came away with no points.

The seven-time champion was lacking pace all weekend as he was eliminated in SQ1 and finished down in 17th in the Sprint race.

Even Pierre Gasly said the Ferrari was ‘so bad’, which is damning given that the Frenchman has scored only 22 points with Alpine in 2025. Things did not improve in qualifying for Hamilton as he was again eliminated in Q1.

Ferrari insiders are worried about Hamilton as his gap to teammate Charles Leclerc is increasing. The Monegasque driver made it into Q3, albeit he could only manage P10.

Leclerc came home eighth at the Qatar Grand Prix, while Hamilton finished outside of the points in 12th. It is his joint-lowest finish as a Ferrari driver, having finished there at Budapest.

Lewis Hamilton says ‘there’s literally no reason why’ Ferrari cannot improve after making multiple notes

Hamilton said after the race that he could have finished in the points if it were not for the early safety car. Nico Hulkenberg’s collision with Pierre Gasly shut down racing action on lap seven, with the Ferrari driver ultimately unable to make up ground.

Hamilton admitted that 2025 has been his ‘most challenging’ season in F1 to date, and he sent a warning to Ferrari in the media pen as he sees ‘no reason’ why the team cannot improve.

He told Sky Sports F1: “I feel fine. I had a good first lap and made some places up and was really unfortunate under the safety car. I enjoyed it as much as I could.

“It definitely has been the most challenging year both in and out of the car. I’ve got so many notes in terms of things we need to improve on.

“Time will tell whether or not we act on those things and we keep hold of the things that are good and change the things that are not – and there’s plenty of those. There’s literally no reason why we couldn’t fix those if we just put those into action. I’m hopeful for us making progress.”

Ferrari have ignored Lewis Hamilton’s complaints all season

It has been the same story for Hamilton in 2025; he has struggled to adapt to his new surroundings at Ferrari.

Disagreements between Hamilton and race engineer Riccardo Adami have been common this season, as well as conflicts behind the scenes in regards to upgrades for the SF-25.

Was Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari challenge underestimated?

“I side with Lewis and it’s very difficult to join a team and stand out. Even more so in your first year, when your teammate knows the car and the team so well. It’s very, very difficult. I can’t explain how difficult it is.”

Ferrari ignored Hamilton’s wishes as he called for aerodynamic upgrades for the car, but Fred Vasseur opted to focus on a new rear suspension, which ultimately did not improve performance.

With the Maranello outfit now guaranteed to finish fourth in the constructors’ championship, Hamilton will just be hoping for the season to end. He will want a complete reset in 2026, in what could be his last chance to win his eighth championship.
