Ferrari could offer Rafael Camara to Haas if and when they call up Oliver Bearman, according to one journalist.
It’s seen as inevitable that Bearman will join Ferrari one day given his position in their academy. His audition at Haas has been a resounding success so far.
Bearman notched 10 points finishes in his rookie season, including three top-six showings. He is currently the highest-ranking driver outside the top four teams and is consistently outperforming his far more experienced teammate, Esteban Ocon.
When will Oliver Bearman replace Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari?
Or do you think the move won't happen at all?
Rafael Camara could be the next Oliver Bearman
Hamilton’s Ferrari contract runs until the end of 2027, so Bearman may have to spend a third year at Haas before an opportunity emerges. It’s not out of the question that the move happens earlier, though, should the seven-time world champion have another difficult season.
Haas understand that Bearman is effectively on loan, but Ferrari will look to maintain the close relationship between the two teams. According to Daniel Moxon, writing in his newsletter, the American team may be offered Rafael Camara as a replacement.
Camara recently completed his first F1 test for Ferrari at the Hungaroring alongside fellow academy driver Dino Beganovic. The Brazilian won last year’s Formula 3 title with double the wins (four) of anyone else.
Naturally, he has stepped up to F2 in 2026 and started well, with two podiums in four races. Should Camara maintain that form, he will position himself at the front of the queue to join the grid.
Growing doubts over Esteban Ocon’s future at Haas
There’s also a chance that Camara could join before Bearman leaves. According to Moxon, he’s one of three drivers on Haas’ shortlist if they decide to replace Esteban Ocon.
Does Esteban Ocon deserve a seat on the F1 grid in 2027?
Ralf Schumacher thinks Ocon’s exit is a ‘done deal’ ahead of his contract expiring, and recent noises don’t bode well.
Ocon’s relationship with Haas appears to be suffering, which has led the team to consider Camara, Jack Doohan and Yuki Tsunoda for 2027.
Doohan recently joined as their reserve driver after his ignominious Alpine exit, while Tsunoda is also looking for a route back into F1 after losing his Red Bull seat.
