Isack Hadjar suffered a major crash in wet conditions at the British Grand Prix which left his Visa Cash App Racing Bulls car in pieces.

Nearly halfway through the race, a downpour commenced and almost the entire grid flooded into the pits for fresh sets of intermediate tyres.

When the second safety car period of the race ended, Hadjar found himself following Kimi Antonelli very closely at the back of the grid, and it caught him out.

Under braking into one of the British Grand Prix’s legendary corners – Copse, he ran into the back of Antonelli and flew off the track at high speed, destroying his Visa Cash App RB car.

Hadjar has achieved two amazing feats this season, but Silverstone produced one of the biggest challenges of his short Formula 1 career.

Fortunately, he walked away from his crash unaided, but Helmut Marko might hesitate to promote Hadjar after seeing him begin to make some rookie errors recently.

F1 fans slam ‘dangerous’ decision not to wave a red flag before Isack Hadjar’s crash

The last time Hadjar encountered really tricky wet conditions, he crashed before making his debut at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.

The wet tyres weren’t used during the race, but a safety car was introduced due to the horrific spray at one stage.

And some fans have taken to X (formerly known as Twitter) to complain that the race should have been suspended (red-flagged) before Hadjar’s crash.

“It’s so dangerous for these drivers. I wish they would just delay it and let the rain pass. It would be much better racing for everybody involved, including us watching,” said one fan.

“Safety please,” agreed another, while another fan was stunned at the situation, “Can’t believe this race isn’t red-flagged yet.”

The spray being flicked up was strong, and it may have been the cause of Hadjar’s crash, with someone else adding, “No visibility at all.”

“Absolute chaos, rookie nerves showing under pressure,” blamed another fan for the incident, while one last comment read, “How can they let them race like this?”

Max Verstappen’s five-word response to Isack Hadjar’s British Grand Prix crash

There was some concern from drivers after Hadjar’s crash, with the last major off that happened there back in 2021 involving Max Verstappen.

Immediately, he took to his radio to check whether his French colleague was ok after his car was in tatters at the side of the track.

“He is OK, Hadjar is OK,” said Verstappen’s race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase.

“Okay, okay, good to know,” replied the Dutchman.

It’s a big repair job, but Hadjar’s mechanics now have three weeks before the Belgian Grand Prix to put his car back together, which will be a sizeable task.
