Ever since Red Bull Racing’s Formula 1 debut at the 2005 Australian Grand Prix, the Anglo-Austrian team have been striving to find the world’s best young racing drivers.
David Coulthard was joined on the grid that day by Christian Klien, who shared his seat with Vitantonio Liuzzi during Red Bull’s maiden F1 season.
However, it wasn’t until the emergence of Sebastian Vettel that Red Bull discovered their first gem.
The German would go on to win four drivers’ championships for Christian Horner’s team, but an even greater talent would soon emerge.
Max Verstappen has now matched Vettel’s championship tally and is quickly dismantling any other record he possessed during his time at Red Bull.
However, the team have struggled to find another talent on a similar level but Racing Bulls rookie Isack Hadjar looks like their most promising arrival in Formula 1 for some time.

The Frenchman currently sits in the top 10 of the drivers’ championship and has little trouble beating his more experienced teammate, Liam Lawson, in their head-to-head battle.
Hadjar has already been compared to Verstappen and has outperformed the Dutchman in two areas compared to his first 10 Grand Prix as a Toro Rosso driver back in 2015.

Isack Hadjar outperforms Max Verstappen in two areas after his first 10 Formula 1 races
Hadjar’s first race for Racing Bulls didn’t go to plan, finding the barriers in treacherous conditions in Australia on the formation lap.
However, he narrowly missed out on Q3 that weekend and the Frenchman’s best performance in qualifying to date later came in Monaco.
The 20-year-old set the sixth-fastest time, but Lewis Hamilton’s penalty meant that Hadjar lined up fifth that day.
He went on to score eight points and beat Verstappen’s best qualifying performance from his first 10 races.
Hamilton gave Hadjar a thumbs up for his performance in Monaco, demonstrating the impression he’s making on the rest of the grid.
The Dutchman started sixth twice in Malaysia and Spain but had to wait until the opening day of his second season to match Hadjar’s top-five performance.

Verstappen managed an incredible fourth-place finish at the 2015 Hungarian Grand Prix on his 10th Formula 1 outing, a record Hadjar can’t match.
However, Verstappen only scored points in three of his first 10 F1 outings, while Hadjar has broken into the points on five occasions already.
The four-time world champion’s peak was higher, but Hadjar is showing a level of consistency that is catching a lot of people’s attention.

Isack Hadjar being considered for role as Max Verstappen’s teammate next season
Red Bull will be wondering if Hadjar is going to finally be the answer to their problem as they search for an appropriate teammate for Verstappen.
Sergio Perez, Lawson and now Yuki Tsunoda have all struggled in the role over the last 18 months.
Helmut Marko is beginning to believe Hadjar might deserve to be promoted after his impressive start to 2025.

It’s not only a case of being prepared to drive a car that has been designed to suit Verstappen’s unique driving style, but also the pressure that comes with racing for a top team.
Hadjar is Red Bull’s favoured candidate to join Verstappen at Red Bull in 2026.
There’s still a lot of racing to take place this year, but Hadjar is well on his way to being the next star placed alongside the Dutch four-time world champion.
