Lando Norris’ comments after the Australian Grand Prix have not gone down well with F1 fans, as many consider it unfair.

Norris did not enjoy a good first race as defending world champion, finishing fifth behind the two Mercedes and Ferraris.

After a tense battle with Max Verstappen, the McLaren star was able to get crucial points on the board for the team after Oscar Piastri’s unfortunate pre-race crash.

After the race, Lando Norris referred to the race under the new F1 regulations as “chaos,” discussing how the artificial conditions don’t make for good driving.

While Charles Leclerc agreed with Norris’ criticism, fans of the sport think he is unhappy mostly because he doesn’t have the best car anymore.

F1 fans slam Lando Norris for ‘complaining’ about new F1 regulations

Lando Norris’ comments sparked a negative reaction from F1 fans. In a Reddit post, several fans questioned his intent.

One fan wrote, “This just feels like sour grapes, complaining the drivers who did well are the ones who adapted quickly. I respect Norris always been a fan, but his attitude promptly changed the moment he realised he doesn’t have the car this year.”

Another fan took aim at Norris’ artificial remark, saying, “Artificial and gimmicky as opposed to the DRS overtakes on the straights we had before?”

A third fan echoed the same sentiment, adding, “Everyone also said this about DRS.”

“All of this nonstop complaining is very boring,” wrote a fourth fan tired of Norris’ criticism.

A fifth fan suggested Norris was the problem, noting, “It’s chaos because the drivers weren’t used to it. Charles showed how you mount a strategic defence against Russell and have a battle.”

“I liked the ‘chaos’ aspect of it. It’s definitely not an issue for me as a viewer. But as the drivers learn more and more about these cars, the ‘chaos’ will disappear,” said a sixth fan asking for more patience from the champion.

Lando Norris faces massive mountain in inaugural title defence

For a first-time defending champion like Lando Norris, this change in F1 regulations could not have come at a worse time in his career.

Norris had been knocking at the door to compete for a championship over the last three seasons. After finally breaking through, he now finds himself having to adapt to a new way of racing entirely.

While one can understand why Norris is upset, he is far from the only driver to experience such drastic changes right after winning the championship.

It would be in his best interest to work as hard as possible and defend his title as best he can going forward, rather than complaining about the circumstances he is facing.
