Sky Sports Formula 1 commentator David Croft has suggested that Aston Martin should be doing everything they can to sign Carlos Sainz for the 2025 season.
Carlos Sainz is one of the fastest drivers in the paddock and will definitely be available next year after losing his seat at Ferrari to Lewis Hamilton.
Speaking on the Sky Sports F1 Podcast, Croft has named the team who should be doing everything they can to hire the two-time Grand Prix winner.
David Croft tells Aston Martin to hire Carlos Sainz
The 2024 season has only just begun but already several drivers have set out their stalls for the campaign.
The intra-team battles are going to be very exciting, although most team principals will hope it doesn’t escalate like it did during the cooldown lap between Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo.
At Ferrari, Carlos Sainz already has the advantage over teammate Charles Leclerc after a fantastic race in Bahrain.
The Spaniard joined the two Red Bull drivers on the podium although the Monegasque had to deal with brake issues throughout the race.
Damon Hill has even suggested that Ferrari should be worried by something Leclerc failed to do in Bahrain that Sainz did.
Regardless, Sainz needs to find a new seat for 2025 and David Croft has suggested Aston Martin should be going all out to sign him.

Fernando Alonso’s future is far from certain with his contract set to expire at the end of the year.
Lance Stroll appears to be a long-term option for the team while his father is the executive chairman of Aston Martin.
Sainz set to be key man in F1 driver’s market
Speaking about the 29-year-old’s future, Croft said: “They can’t attract a Carlos Sainz for instance at Aston Martin who I think if I were them I would absolutely by aggressively approaching Carlos Sainz for next year.”
Sainz has already been linked with most of the grid for 2025, with Williams ‘big admirers’ of the Spaniard and Audi a key option.
Aston Martin may struggle to attract Sainz as Croft explains just because of the other teams on offer.
Mercedes have a seat to fill although Damon Hill sees a problem with that option after telling Sainz to join another team on the grid.
All he can do is continue to score points, push his teammate this season and see what opportunities unfold for 2025.
