David Coulthard was left far from impressed with Visa Cash App RB during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
It was a ‘weekend to forget’ for Daniel Ricciardo, while Yuki Tsunoda was stuck behind the impassable Kevin Magnussen.
Commentating on the race for Channel 4, David Coulthard wasn’t happy with what he saw from the Italian team in Jeddah.
Coulthard wanted to see more from RB during Saudi Arabia GP
Pre-season testing in Formula 1 can give observers a good idea of how each team will fare for the upcoming campaign, but it’s never perfect.
It wasn’t a surprise to see Max Verstappen out in front on day one, but Ferrari appeared to close the gap.
However, after recording back-to-back one-two finishes, Frederic Vasseur’s outfit still has work to do.
One manufacturer who really impressed in Bahrain was Visa Cash App RB with Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda looking very quick.
The Australian even topped a practice session during the first race weekend of the 2024 season, but things have only gone downhill since then.
Neither driver was in a position to challenge for points in Sakhir, with Tsunoda furious he had to give up a place to his teammate.
RB didn’t fare much better in Saudi Arabia, leaving David Coulthard wanting more from Laurent Mekies’s team.

Haas scoring an unlikely point means RB are now one of four teams still to get off the mark.
They look racier than Alpine and Sauber right now but would have wanted to be much closer to the fifth-fastest team Aston Martin.
RB have work to do after disappointing first two races
Commentating on the closing stages of the races, Coulthard said: “Yeah, just looking at the running order as it is, it’s a bit of an ‘underwhelming’ race for the RB team. Tsunoda in 15th, Ricciardo in 17th.”
Ricciardo did at least make up a place before the finish with both Saubers at the back of the grid.
However, Coulthard’s frustration with RB in Saudi Arabia will likely be shared by those within the team.
They don’t appear to have benefitted from the closer ties with Red Bull, although Tsunoda’s appearance in Q3 will give them hope that they’ve still got speed to unlock.
