Tsunoda angry on the radio in Bahrain
There were plenty of expectations on RB heading into this season after their relationship with champions Red Bull was tightened over the winter.
They moved more of their operations to the UK from Italy and have brought in the likes of Alan Permane and Tim Goss.
Daniel Ricciardo went fastest in one of the practice sessions this weekend and has even been tipped to challenge for podiums this year.
However, they were unable to beat the likes of Zhou Guanyu and Kevin Magnussen on Saturday evening and will need to improve quickly if they want to start scoring points.
RB made a call over the radio to give Ricciardo the chance to attack in Bahrain at the expense of Yuki Tsunoda.
The 23-year-old was very unhappy with the decision especially as it didn’t end up paying off in the end.

RB get off to slow start in Bahrain
Heading into the final laps, Tsunoda was given the message: “Driver swap.”
Tsunoda replied: “Are you kidding me now?”
After Ricciardo had been let through, Tsunoda added: “Yeah thanks guys, I appreciate it.”
A couple of laps later when Ricciardo hadn’t made a move on Magnussen yet, Tsunoda said: “He’s got to speed up man.
The team acknowledged his message: “Loud and clear Yuki, Just do your best,” but Tsunoda wasn’t done and his final message over the radio in Bahrain was simply: “He’s not fast at all.”
Ricciardo went into qualifying trying to temper expectations and the fact they both started outside the top 10 suggests they’ve not made the strides forward many expected.
His teammate Tsunoda issued more ‘realistic’ expectations to the press too and that will likely be heeded heading into the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix next weekend.
