Damon Hill very unhappy with something all 10 teams did during Bahrain Grand Prix

Damon Hill has admitted he doesn’t think that it’s a good thing that all 20 cars finished Saturday evening’s Bahrain Grand Prix.

Max Verstappen once again took the chequered flag first, but when Logan Sargeant crossed the finish line for the final time, he set a piece of Formula 1 history.

Taking to social media, Damon Hill shared his displeasure that every driver made it to the end of the race.

Hill annoyed all 20 cars finished the Bahrain Grand Prix

One of the most noticeable changes in modern Formula 1 is the improvement in reliability.

As recently as the 1990s and early 2000s, drivers could go into the final lap of a race and not know if they were going to finish.

The change is overwhelmingly positive for manufacturers and partly as a result of the power units used in F1 which Martin Brundle very much disagrees with.

Drivers moaned about plenty of issues during Saturday evening’s race, including a cooling problem for Mercedes and Charles Leclerc struggling with his brakes.

However, Damon Hill was left frustrated that every car finished the race in Bahrain.

Logan Sargeant was nearly the first retiree of the season when he went off at turn four, but a new steering wheel fixed his problem.

Valtteri Bottas may as well have sat out the rest of the Grand Prix after a race-ending 52-second pit stop.

Reliability now a key feature of F1 races

Posting on X, statistician Sean Kelly said: “This is the first time in F1 history that every car finished the opening race of the season #BahrainGP.”

Hill reposted his stat and replied: “And it wasn’t a good thing #f1.”

Retirements in Formula 1 races certainly add a layer of intrigue and have led to some of the most famous moments in the sport’s history.

The most iconic has to be Nicholas Latifi’s late crash in Abu Dhabi in 2021 which directly led to Verstappen’s first world championship.

It would be incredible if every car finished every race this season and even though Hill didn’t get his wish in Bahrain, DNFs will play their part in F1 eventually this year.

Retirements might be the only way to stop Red Bull this year but their car has been notoriously reliable in recent years.

Verstappen has finished the last 42 Grand Prix and is only eight classifications away from breaking another Lewis Hamilton record.
