Charles Leclerc was taken aback by just how brilliant Lewis Hamilton was to earn his first win at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix.
Hamilton’s first Ferrari win in Barcelona proved to be a thriller, as the seven-time world champion looked back to his brilliant best.
And while Hamilton aims to get the title race going, things are drastically different on the other side of the Ferrari garage for Charles Leclerc.

Leclerc was forced to retire near the final moments of the race due to an issue with his engine, thus marking his second-straight DNF this season.
And while Charles Leclerc is thrilled for Lewis Hamilton and his win, he wants to try and match his accomplishments sooner rather than later.

Charles Leclerc outlines his goal to replicate Lewis Hamilton success as he praises Ferrari upgrades
Speaking to F1 TV after the race, a disappointed Charles Leclerc spoke about Lewis Hamilton managing to win the race, and the new upgrades Ferrari brought to Barcelona.
While he was thrilled with Hamilton’s result, he did admit that he wanted to be up there with him. Leclerc also expressed optimism about what the upgrades can help him achieve going forward.
“A huge congratulations to Lewis, who has been on it now since a quite (a while) and has been incredible.
“A huge congrats to the team as well, that is pushing massively on upgrades, and we are showing it now. So, it’s good to see this, and I’m just very disappointed on my side.
“Yes, absolutely, especially because we brought a lot of upgrades this weekend, and they seem to be working. So, that’s a good sign for the team. Now, I need to be up there at the front with him.”

Speaking to Sky Sports after the race, Charles Leclerc admitted he and Ferrari had faced a lot of issues, but he is looking to put them behind him.
“Now it’s up to me to up my game, to find confidence with this car again, to put everything together, and hopefully have a clean weekend.
“It’s also true that the last four weekends haven’t been very clean for me, technically also. On my side, we’ve had quite a lot of issues.
“So I’m just looking forward to having clean races, finding the rhythm again, and hopefully fighting at the front once more.”
Leclerc made ominous comments before his crash in qualifying yesterday, but today his brakes weren’t the issue as expected. Instead, it was an engine failure that cost him a race finish.
Hopefully, Leclerc’s seemingly never-ending streak of bad luck can actually end after this race, and he can begin competing with Lewis Hamilton.
