Charles Leclerc has sought one ‘extreme’ Ferrari solution to fix his issues with their 2025 F1 car

Ferrari have been slowly recovering from a miserable start to the 2025 Formula 1 campaign and are starting to show signs of competitiveness.

Charles Leclerc has continued to be their lead driver, and Lewis Hamilton has familiarised himself with new surroundings.

The Maranello-based outfit lie second in the constructors’ championship, and recent upgrades have helped them establish a slight buffer to Mercedes.

But, Ferrari are aware that there is plenty more work to do. Heading into the 2026 F1 regulations, they want to be on the front foot, and any momentum they build now will help with that.

Ferrari are planning to copy Mercedes as they bid to win their first race of the season. They’re the only one of the top four teams without a victory so far.

According to Nigel Mansell, Ferrari ‘lost something’ when Hamilton joined and it’s something they haven’t been able to put their finger on yet.

Charles Leclerc has made one ‘extreme’ Ferrari setup change to fix his balance woes

Hamilton can fix a crucial Ferrari ‘problem’ which Leclerc may not be able to, according to Damon Hill, by using his experience.

He took the team’s only real victory this year, winning the sprint race at the Chinese Grand Prix, before they followed it up with a double disqualification on the Sunday.

A new rear suspension upgrade will arrive soon, which should unlock another tenth of performance at most circuits.

And now the Italian edition of Motorsport.com reports that Leclerc has been trialling a variety of ‘extreme’ setups in a bid to find a better balance for the SF25.

Leclerc had one ‘weakness’ at the British Grand Prix and ranted over his radio to his team about their performance. The pressure is mounting in his seventh season.

Why Ferrari could threaten McLaren in the coming F1 races

Hamilton would’ve been ahead of both McLarens in Silverstone if he had the new rear suspension on his car already.

Over the coming races, it should really aid his bid for a maiden podium with the Scuderia to have all these new parts on his car.

They seem to be working well and correlating with what is being designed in the factory. It’s also a good omen for the future.

And McLaren already have a very good car. They might have turned their complete attention to 2026, and getting as far ahead as possible.
