Carlos Sainz enjoyed the most successful period of his career during his stint at Ferrari, and has issued a verdict on the victory that he was ‘most proud’ of for the Scuderia.
Joining Ferrari in the 2021 season in place of four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, Sainz had some big shoes to fill at the Maranello-based racing outfit.
The Spaniard immediately got to grips with his new bit of machinery, notching a multitude of podiums during his debut season with the Prancing Horse, including a maiden F1 victory at the British Grand Prix.
He went on to secure all four wins of his F1 career thus far at the time, before Sainz’s stint was cut short by Ferrari opting to sign Lewis Hamilton at the first moment that he became available.

Carlos Sainz names the one victory that he is ‘most proud’ of in Formula 1
A fairly regular contender for podiums whilst a driver for Ferrari, Sainz cemented himself as one of the best drivers on the grid alongside Charles Leclerc.
In a recent interview with El Heraldo de Mexico in the Mexico City Grand Prix paddock, the 31-year-old discussed the victories he has experienced in F1 at length, detailing which of the four he is ‘most proud’ of.
Upon being asked which of the feats were his favourite, Sainz replied, “That’s difficult. Not just because they’re my victories, but I’ve had four really nice ones.
“The first one, because it’s Silverstone; it’s special, and it was my first. The first is always the most special, really.
“But then I think you’ll agree with me that the victory in Singapore was very special too, very different, something that nobody expected and an incredible victory.
“The victory in Australia after the appendicitis operation, coming back and winning straight away, is something that as an athlete perhaps makes me most proud, right? To be able to come back from an injury or a problem like the one I had and to come back winning is something special.
“And then Mexico, because I knew it was my last chance to win a race with Ferrari, and I arrived, dominated the whole weekend, and did it. My whole family and all my friends were there, and I managed to win in front of them.”

Carlos Sainz has finally found his footing at his new F1 team, Williams
Upon being ousted from his seat for the inbound Hamilton, Sainz became a hot prospect in the F1 driver market as he sought the next F1 team where he could lay his roots.
Williams came calling, and after a tricky start to the season in midfield machinery, the Spaniard has now started to flex his skills and showcase why he was a Ferrari driver in the first place.
Sainz had developed a reputation for adapting to any car he sat in through his experience of racing in four different teams before the Grove-based outfit had secured his signature, but looked to have lost it upon his arrival there.
However, the Spaniard proved that form is temporary but class is permanent as he fended off attacks from much quicker cars than his to secure a maiden podium for Williams at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in September.
The feat was seen as one of the best feel-good moments of the year. Ferrari engineers joined Sainz for his celebrations in the pit lane, in a testament to the 31-year-old’s character in the paddock.
