Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack has responded to talk that the team could make a sensational move for Max Verstappen.

Owner Lawrence Stroll is apparently willing to do whatever it takes to land the three-time world champion.

And Krack has now issued his verdict on suggestions that Aston Martin could push for his signature.

Verstappen is under contract with Red Bull until the end of the 2028 season but is thought to be considering his future with the team.

That’s despite the fact they’ve provided him with three straight title-winning cars, and the RB20 looks like it will be the fourth.

Billionaire Stroll has made Verstappen his number one target if indeed he becomes available.

His son Lance is out of contract at the end of the season, as is two-time world champion Fernando Alonso.

Mike Krack tight-lipped on Verstappen to Aston Martin talk

Speaking to media outlets including Formu1a.uno, Krack called for the team not to get carried away.

He pointed out that Verstappen is committed to a long-term deal with Red Bull.

“As far as I know Max has a contract,” he said. “Let’s keep our feet on the ground, step by step.”

Aston are currently fifth in the championship with 13 points after the first two races.

They started out as Red Bull’s nearest challenger on race day in 2023, but while Alonso bagged eight podiums, they eventually slipped down to P5.

Will Fernando Alonso retire this season?

Alonso showed last time out in Saudi Arabia that he’s still a ‘beast’, in the words of team ambassador Pedro de la Rosa.

He brought home 10 points in fifth, having held off the Mercedes of George Russell.

At 42, he’s the oldest driver on the current grid, but he continues to deliver, six years on from his initial retirement.

Eddie Jordan thinks that Alonso may be planning to hang up his helmet for good at the end of this year.

But it’s been suggested elsewhere that he could contact Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff over a 2025 drive, with Lewis Hamilton joining Ferrari.

Alonso could also look to jump ship to Red Bull if Verstappen did make a remarkable exit.

His manager Flavio Briatore has already been spotted speaking to Bulls boss Christian Horner this season.

Meanwhile, despite his father’s prominence, Stroll is said to be under ‘pressure’ to deliver.
