It has been claimed that Adrian Newey’s relationship with Lawrence Stroll has reached a ‘low point’ amid Aston Martin’s ongoing struggles.
Ahead of the 2026 Formula 1 season, it was expected that Newey would bring Aston Martin back towards the front of the grid.
With a wealth of experience and an illustrious track record, Newey was labelled as the key to unlock Aston Martin’s full potential.
However, the Newey era has endured an awful start, with the AMR26 proving to be extremely problematic.
Both Aston Martin drivers have had to deal with intense vibrations from the Honda-powered engine, though it was claimed during the Miami weekend that those issues have now improved.
Has Lawrence Stroll made too many changes at Aston Martin?
Adrian Newey’s relationship with Lawrence Stroll reaches ‘low point’
Speaking recently on the Two Mechanics podcast, Mark Grain, who previously worked at McLaren, claimed that Newey’s relationship with Stroll has reached a ‘pretty low point’.
He went on to say that although there are problems at Aston Martin, he is backing the Silverstone-based outfit to bounce back.
Grain said: “I understand that the relationship at Aston Martin isn’t great at the moment. And Adrian’s relationship with Lawrence isn’t great either.
“So, of course, health first, hopefully he’s on the mend, but yeah, I believe that the relationship between him and Lawrence is at a pretty low point right now.
“I still think that team is very strong, and it’s not about one man. I think they will bounce, they will recover and bounce back. I think they’re making progress with Honda, just tough times for that Silverstone-based team.”

Fernando Alonso to decide F1 future amid Aston Martin’s ongoing struggles
Due to Aston Martin’s 2026 form, questions have been raised about Fernando Alonso’s future.
The two-time world champion, who is set to turn 45 years old this year, has revealed that he will make a decision on his future in the summer.
As reported by Sky Sports, Alonso said: “Sometime in the summer, I need to make a decision. At the moment I didn’t sit with myself to think about that.
“I never thought about it in a deep way and I need to speak with my family as well. I need to speak with my people first and decide what to do next year.
“I’m very relaxed about it. If I continue racing, I think it will be a better season than this one with the project in year two. If I stop racing, I know that I will race in other series.”
After managing to have both cars finish the Miami Grand Prix, Aston Martin will look to make another step in the right direction when the 2026 F1 season resumes in Canada next weekend.
