Max Verstappen will look to equal Lewis Hamilton with a third Monaco Grand Prix victory this weekend. He arrives at F1’s most prestigious race with fresh momentum after his victory at Imola.

Verstappen is feeling more comfortable than ever in the Red Bull after the team finalised a series of developments. He won by six seconds in Emilia Romagna, but it would have been a lot more without a late safety car.

The Dutchman scored his first Monte Carlo win in 2021 during his title battle with Hamilton. He then delivered another two years later after producing an unforgettable final sector to bag pole position.

A third win here would put Verstappen level with not only Hamilton, but also Jackie Stewart, Stirling Moss and Nico Rosberg. Ayrton Senna still holds the all-time record with six wins, with Graham Hill and Michael Schumacher tied on five and Alain Prost just behind on four.

In 2024, Charles Leclerc finally broke the ‘Monaco curse’ to take victory on home soil. He defeated Oscar Piastri in a largely processional race after an early red flag allowed teams to make their mandatory tyre change.

To avoid a repeat this year, F1 drivers will have to make two pit stops at Monaco. That could potentially create the most intriguing race at the 2.1-mile circuit for years.

What Formula 1 fans get for £16k Monaco Grand Prix ticket

The Monaco Grand Prix is often described as the jewel in F1’s crown and is also synonymous with wealth and luxury. Many of the current drivers reside in the principality.

The harbour is lined with yachts, but some VIPs choose to watch from the vantage point above the pit lane.

This year, the most expensive ticket for that terrace will set customers back over £16k. For that, they get an enviable view for the three days of action, a pit-lane walk and a guided track tour.

They’ll also have the opportunity to emulate Martin Brundle by carrying out their own grid walk, albeit for a support race rather than the main event. Guests will eat from a menu curated by world-famous chef Gordon Ramsay.

Ferrari hatch a plan for Lewis Hamilton to repeat Charles Leclerc’s 2024 Monaco heroics

Hamilton hasn’t won at Monaco since 2019, but may draw some hope from Ferrari’s triumph last year. Silverstone or Monza aside, this would be a dream venue for his maiden victory in their colours.

It’s emerged that Ferrari will use their 2024 rear wing in Monaco as they eye a repeat result. They aren’t as strong in slow corners as they were 12 months ago, but they’re trying to revive that strength.

Fred Vasseur’s team need to conquer the qualifying woes to have any chance. They suffered a double Q2 exit at Imola, which would be particularly disastrous here.

While he may be the favourite on a circuit known for rewarding drivers’ skill, Helmut Marko has warned Verstappen ahead of Monaco. He isn’t sure how well the updated RB21 will work at the unique venue.
