Martin Brundle made one ‘bold’ Lewis Hamilton pre-season prediction that hasn’t come true at Ferrari yet

Lewis Hamilton’s first season with Ferrari hasn’t quite gone as he might have hoped it would after the first half of the campaign.

He’s yet to step onto the podium during a Grand Prix, and the Scuderia’s car has been a nightmare to handle at times, especially in the wet.

But Hamilton won’t give up, as he has shown throughout his career so far. He will relentlessly chase an eighth drivers’ championship until he has nothing else to give.

Ferrari’s main job is to ensure that they give the Briton a chance of winning in 2026. The aim was always to make sure that they would be quick in their second season, and the time to prepare for that is now.

After months of hard work, Ferrari are about to make a ‘quantum leap’ with Hamilton, which could thrust him into contention for victories before the end of 2025.

Hamilton can fix a crucial Ferrari ‘problem’ with his experience, according to Damon Hill, by invigorating their development in the future. He could be the final piece in the puzzle.

Martin Brundle’s ‘bold’ two-win Lewis Hamilton prediction hasn’t come true at Ferrari yet

Ferrari ‘lost something’ when Hamilton joined, according to 1992 Formula 1 champion Nigel Mansell. Their car went from being a victory contender to third or fourth best at some circuits.

Ferrari’s secret car issue has been revealed, and it was related to their power steering, with the feedback through their wheel being less than optimal.

As the season goes on and more of their woes are solved, they should be able to draw themselves closer to McLaren at the front.

Although it may be too late for a title charge, it may arrive in time to make Martin Brundle’s ‘bold’ Hamilton prediction come true.

Before the season started, he said that the seven-time champion would win two races with his new team in 2025. Presumably, he meant Grands Prix, so his sprint win in China may not count. Either way, it hasn’t happened yet.

How Lewis Hamilton has beat one of his own F1 records during 2025

By failing to finish on the podium in the last two races, Hamilton has extended his run to 14 races without a podium.

It beat his previous longest streak of 12, set at Mercedes between 2023 and 2024. He’s officially on the driest streak of his career.

Hamilton’s Ferrari car had an unexpected problem in Silverstone, otherwise, he might have ended up in third.

However, after 239 races, fate would allow Nico Hulkenberg to have his day in the limelight, by finally reaching the rostrum just seconds ahead of Hamilton.
