Round 18 of the 2025 Formula 1 season gets underway this weekend, here’s everything you need to know about the Singapore Grand Prix at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.

After a difficult weekend for McLaren in Azerbaijan, the team will be hoping for a better performance in Singapore with the constructors’ championship now in their sights.

Championship leader Oscar Piastri crashed out on the first lap around Baku, just moments after a false start at the beginning of the race.

All eyes were on Lando Norris, who faced a prime opportunity to close the gap to his teammate in the championship, but ultimately, the Brit struggled for pace and finished seventh.

Max Verstappen displayed a faultless performance in Azerbaijan, matching Lewis Hamilton’s record for the most career grand slams in modern F1 history.

The Dutchman heads into the weekend off the back of winning his debut GT3 race at the Nurburgring last Sunday.

Speculation continues to grow around the six remaining available seats for the 2026 grid, including George Russell’s future at Mercedes, after the Brit is still yet to sign his contract for next season.

The 2025 Singapore Grand Prix is set to take place between the 3rd and 5th October, with the main grand prix at the Marina Bay Street Circuit taking place on Sunday 5th October at 8pm (track time) or 1pm (UK time).

What is the weather for the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix at Baku?

The Singapore Grand Prix is one of the warmest on the 2025 calendar, rivalling temperatures in Bahrain and Qatar. Temperatures are forecast to reach highs of 35°C although thundery showers could reduce the high levels of humidity.

Friday 3 October – FP1 & FP2: Thundery showers could impact both Friday’s practice sessions, with the chance of rain increasing from 27% to 40% between the two hours. Temperatures are forecast to reach 30°C during FP1, but will cool to 27°C for the later practice.

Saturday 4 October – FP3 & Qualifying: Saturday’s practice and qualifying sessions are forecast to be dry, with minimal chances of rain. Temperatures will remain similar to Friday’s practice sessions, but humidity will be slightly lower.

Sunday 5 October – Race: Thundery showers are forecast throughout Sunday ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix, but should clear in time for the race. Temperatures are forecast to be 28°C, but should feel about nine degrees warmer.

What is the Pirelli tyre allocation for the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix?

Pirelli have opted to make no changes to the tyre compounds that they brought to the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix, with the C3 as the Hard, C4 Medium and C5 Soft.

The tyre supplier revealed they had chosen not to take a step softer tyre, using the new C6s due to the high temperatures creating overheating issues, which can degrade tyres faster.

It is expected that the medium and hard tyres will be used during the race, although there is potential to see the C5 soft tyres if there is a late safety car.

The 2025 Singapore Grand Prix is held at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, a 4.940km (3.070 mi) track around the harbour.

The track has hosted the grand prix since 2008 and held the first-ever Formula 1 night race. There have been several unforgettable moments at the Singapore Grand Prix, a race which has seen at least one safety car in every event bar last year’s grand prix.

Who won the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix?

Lando Norris won the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix after a strong performance all weekend. The Brit took pole position before defending from Verstappen during the first lap to bring home his third career victory.

His lead nearly came to a premature end on lap 30 when a small error nearly saw him crash his McLaren into the barriers.

Verstappen retained second place but finished 20 seconds behind Norris, with Piastri making a charge from fifth place to third before the end of the race.

The 2024 Singapore Grand Prix marked Daniel Ricciardo’s final F1 race, with the Racing Bulls team announcing the Aussie’s departure the following week.

Ricciardo took the fastest lap, and a vital additional championship point from Norris, before delaying getting out of the car and then appearing very emotional in the post-race interviews.

How can McLaren win the constructors’ championship at the Singapore Grand Prix?

McLaren missed the opportunity to break the record for taking the constructors’ title with the most races remaining in Azerbaijan, but they could still take the championship victory in Singapore this weekend.

The Woking-based team need a 303-point lead from second-place Mercedes by the end of the grand prix.

McLaren need to score just 13 points for the constructors’ championship, meaning that if Piastri or Norris take a podium finish then the title will be secured.

However, if the team are outscored by Mercedes by 31 points or Ferrari by 35, then they will not be able to take the championship this weekend, and it will be up for grabs again at the United States Grand Prix.
