Russell was born in the Norfolk port town of Kings Lynn, which is also the birthplace of former F1 driver turned Sky Sports commentator Martin Brundle and his son Alex, who also can be heard commentating on races for F1 TV.
The Mercedes driver attended Wisbech Grammar School in Cambridgeshire, but relocated to Milton Keynes when he was 18 to be closer to his F2 team ART Grand Prix.

After a difficult race, the Mercedes driver appears to have a panic attack due to the extreme warm weather conditions. Russell is seen struggling to breathe in his cooldown room, before his girlfriend Montero Mundt stands up and shuts the door to protect him from the cameras.
Fans were quick to jump to Russell’s defence for how he was portrayed in the episode, with the Brit admitting he hadn’t watched the full episode and didn’t really care how Netflix had portrayed him.
