Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has admitted that there’s something ‘very unusual’ about the Las Vegas Grand Prix track.
Wolff was previewing this weekend’s race, via SoyMotor, as Mercedes look to bounce back from a terrible performance in Brazil.
It was always going to be a tough race in Sao Paulo when George Russell was moaning on the radio that his teammate was going too slowly in the opening laps.
However, the rest of the grid were loving their lack of pace and the fact they only came away from Interlagos with four points has left the door ajar for Ferrari to potentially snatch second place in the Constructors’ Championship.
Las Vegas will provide a completely different challenge for every team on the grid.
Not only is it another street circuit but it’s going to be one of the coldest races in decades.
Mercedes boss Wolff has admitted the race in Las Vegas could be very unusual.
The conditions are going to be very tricky to deal with and given it’s a completely new track, the only experience the drivers have so far is on the simulator.

While the technology they’ve got at their disposal is incredible, there’s nothing like actually being on the track to see what it’s like to drive on.
The teams around Red Bull will hope that this new environment gives them a chance to end their dominance this season.
Wolff shares what’s unusual about the Las Vegas track
Speaking ahead of this weekend’s event, Wolff said: “We are going to race again and the ambient temperature will most likely be in the single digits.
“Also, the circuit is very unusual with some slow corners, but with long straights, it will be a challenge for everyone.
“We have worked hard to understand what we did wrong in Brazil and we already know why we lost so much performance.
“That is important in our objective of securing second place.”
Wolff will hope the unusual Las Vegas circuit suits his car better than Ferrari’s to secure that runners-up spot.
It earns them tens of millions of pounds in prize money and bragging rights for the upcoming season.
Even the very small details like their position in the pit lane in 2024 can make all the difference, while after a tricky season, George Russell needs a couple of positive results to carry some momentum into next year.
