Toto Wolff was far from impressed with Kimi Antonelli’s post-Sprint team radio after an incident with Mercedes teammate George Russell.
On Saturday, the Mercedes duo went wheel to wheel for the first time this season as the pair’s fight for the world championship heated up in Montreal.
Antonelli was adamant he was ahead in the corner, claiming Russell had pushed him off the track.
The incident allowed Lando Norris to take second place, with Russell winning the Sprint, and Antonelli ended up in third place.
Clearly unhappy with Russell, Antonelli blasted on his team radio: “That was very naughty. That should be a penalty, I was alongside on the mirror. He pushed me off.”
At the time, Wolff warned Antonelli to concentrate on driving, he said: “Kimi, concentrate on the driving, please, not on the radio moaning.”

After the Sprint ended, Antonelli was clearly still unhappy. He said: “If we need to race like this, that’s good to know!”
In response, Wolff said: “Kimi now is not the time to talk about this. We talk about this internally and not on the radio, OK?”
Reacting to Wolff’s involvement, Sky Sports F1 commentator Martin Brundle labelled the situation as ‘interesting’.
He said: “It is interesting the headmaster [Toto Wolff] has had to step in there and say ‘stop this’.
“Watching frame-by-frame, I can now see why Antonelli felt he was entitled to more racing room.”

Speaking after the race, Antonelli doubled down on his claim that Russell pushed him off.
The 19-year-old said: “It was a tough battle to be fair. We were all there in terms of pace. It was not easy.
“I tried to make my move but I need to review on that because I was well alongside and got pushed off. It is what it is.
“Then I made a mistake into Turn 8 because I took a big bump, locked up then I compromised my race from there but it was a good battle.”
Meanwhile, Russell said: “It was a cool race, very difficult to get a gap around here. It felt quite easy to follow and the slipstream felt quite powerful with the Overtake Mode.
“It was a good battle with Kimi. I’m glad we are both standing here after the race.”
