The Azerbaijan Grand Prix was another disappointing weekend for RB who are seeing their hopes of finishing in the top six in the Constructors’ Championship slip away.
Haas managed to score a single point to slightly close the gap, although Williams’s ten-point haul may concern RB team principal Laurent Mekies.
Yuki Tsunoda had a decent qualifying session but a collision with Lance Stroll caused terminal damage to his car.
His teammate Daniel Ricciardo failed to get out of Q1 and even with the four retirements ahead of him during the race, the Australian could only come home in 13th.

Mekies and senior Red Bull staff have a decision to make sooner rather than later on their second driver for next season.
Tsunoda is already confirmed for 2025, but it appears to be a straight shootout between Ricciardo and reserve driver Liam Lawson to join him on the grid next year.
Speaking on Ted’s Notebook after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, reporter Ted Kravitz shared the latest information he had heard about the upcoming decision.
Helmut Marko has admitted RB won’t announce their second driver yet which makes sense as aside from Sauber they don’t face any competition for their drivers.
Liam Lawson technically could leave RB now after a clause in his contract was activated on Sunday allowing him to move to another team for free.

The fact nothing has been said about that might point towards the decision RB are set to make.
Ted Kravitz provides update on Daniel Ricciardo and Liam Lawson’s future
Talking about the performance of the RB team in Baku, Kravitz said: “RB, very disappointing day for them, no wonder there’s nobody about [in the paddock] because it’s been a miserable day and a fairly miserable weekend.
“Daniel Ricciardo, who was clearly up for it on the grid, absolutely laser-focused on getting a good result, only P13 today.
“Yuki Tsunoda, DNF, Yuki got hit by Lance Stroll or hit him depending on your viewpoint and dropped well down in a mishandling car to 16th to retire the car on lap 17 with floor damage.
“Helmut Marko says that it’ll be after Singapore, we’ve been waiting to hear who’s going to be Yuki Tsunoda’s partner at RB next year.
“And Helmut Marko is teasing us that it’s now after Singapore that we will hear whether it’s going to be Daniel Ricciardo or Liam Lawson, who we think it’s going to be, Liam Lawson.
“But yeah, that’s what’s going on at RB.”
Daniel Ricciardo knows what he’s got to do to save his F1 career
Ricciardo has taken part in more than 250 Grand Prix and is one of the most experienced drivers in the history of the sport.
The latest generation of F1 cars haven’t tended to suit his driving style particularly well and the fact that Tsunoda is beating him in their head-to-head record has made it difficult to justify keeping him for 2025 and beyond.
Ricciardo has been telling himself what he needs to do to keep his F1 seat but will know not scoring points in Baku when the likes of Franco Colapinto and Oliver Bearman did isn’t a great look.

It doesn’t help that RB have gone in the wrong direction with their development this season, with Tsunoda extremely unhappy with one part added to his car in Monza.
Ricciardo may still be in the conversation to replace Sergio Perez at Red Bull but with every passing race that looks less and less likely.
