Rob Smedley has revealed what his old Ferrari colleagues are saying about Lewis Hamilton in their group chats.
Hamilton, 41, endured arguably his worst season in Formula 1 last year as his Ferrari dream turned into a nightmare.
The seven-time world champion failed to score a podium finish and was convincingly beaten by teammate Charles Leclerc.
However, things have changed in 2026, with the Brit putting together a string of impressive performances.
Last weekend, Hamilton secured his first win for Ferrari by winning the Barcelona Grand Prix, finishing more than 19 seconds ahead of Mercedes driver George Russell.
Looking ahead, a rejuvenated Hamilton is emerging as a title contender as he currently trails Kimi Antonelli by 41 points.
If Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso were in equal machinery for their entire F1 careers, who would have been better?
Rob Smedley reveals what old Ferrari colleagues are saying about Lewis Hamilton
Speaking recently on the High Performance Racing podcast, ex-Ferrari race engineer Smedley revealed what his former colleagues have been saying about Hamilton.
The 52-year-old, who worked at Ferrari from 2004 to 2013, stated that people within the team are ‘over the moon’ with Hamilton.
He also added that Ferrari staff all ‘love’ Hamilton and are putting him ‘on a pedestal’.
Smedley said: “There was a long spell of not winning. Now they’ve just won, and it was a very good win. It wasn’t gifted to them; they won that on merit.
“I think everybody is very pleased, and I’m on a lot of chat groups with all of my old colleagues, and they’re all literally over the moon with Lewis.
“They just love him. We talked about this; this could be a Michael (Schumacher) story.
“Lewis, if he can get on top of the car and he can lift the team and he can start winning races and he can guide them towards world championships, they will absolutely love him.
“Whenever I read the Italian newspapers, or I talk to my mates in Ferrari, they all love him; they’re all putting him on a pedestal. He’s getting better and better.”

According to ex-Haas team boss Guenther Steiner, Hamilton now has a lot of credit at Ferrari following his stunning victory in Barcelona.
Hamilton has been urged to use the credit at Ferrari in order to push the team to greater heights.
Steiner said on The Red Flags podcast: “The victory in Barcelona gave him a lot of credit; he’s got a lot of credit now at Ferrari.
“I mean, he needs to use that. He won us a race, we went the way he wanted us to go, that was successful, and now he just needs to build up on that.
“To keep on getting the people motivated to do this because for Ferrari, they were nice moments.”
