Red Bull have been facing increasing pressure to sell their sister team, Racing Bulls. While they remain insistent on keeping the team, their perfect bidder is right in front of them – BYD.
Many F1 rivals have expressed concern over Red Bull’s ownership of two teams on the grid. While Racing Bulls claim that they run as a separate team, the operation has led to people calling for the Faenza outfit to be sold to another buyer.
Zak Brown sent an open letter to the FIA over Red Bull’s ownership of Racing Bulls, telling them to sell the team on. Indeed, the governing body are worried about the situation and could force a sale.

Recently, Red Bull rejected a $3bn (roughly £2.2bn) bid from an Abu Dhabi-based consortium for Racing Bulls. While they seem adamant on keeping hold of the Faenza outfit, the pressure from rivals and the FIA could prove too much, especially when the right backers are in plain sight.

It is no secret that BYD are interested in joining the F1 grid, and the sport are keen to explore the Chinese market. The manufacturer could buy an existing team, or join as an entirely new entity.
Christian Horner is in talks with BYD and could look to get them on the grid as F1’s 12th team. However, that proposal could receive backlash from rivals, meaning that buying an existing team is their best option.
BYD were linked with buying Alpine as minority shareholders, Otro Capital, are looking to sell their 24% stake in the team. However, with these reports quieting down, Racing Bulls are the perfect alternative.

The Faenza outfit are a team on the up, with the new regulations seeing them become the best-of-the-rest. Racing Bulls are joint-fifth in the standings with Alpine.
Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad are regularly scoring points and breaking into Q3. The infrastructure, resources and personnel are there for a successful project, making it hugely attractive for BYD.
