Max Verstappen has ‘lifted the standards’ of Red Bull engineers with his ‘astonishing’ technical feedback behind the scenes.
The Dutchman has had a tough start to the 2026 season. He has spoken openly about his disdain for the regulation changes, and Red Bull have not got a package capable of winning races.
However, as ever, Verstappen continues to extract the maximum from the car and battle towards the front of the grid. He is keeping spirits high within the team, despite his hatred of the cars, as he can detail exactly what he wants from his engineers.

Max Verstappen lauded by Red Bull engineers for his ‘astonishing’ feedback
Verstappen’s data showed that high-speed corners were his weakness in the RB22. But Red Bull have been working tirelessly to get the Dutchman as comfortable as possible in the car.
Red Bull have fixed Verstappen’s steering issues that he had been suffering with since the start of pre-season testing. The Miami GP saw the team make some strong progress, and that is in part thanks to the 28-year-old’s ‘incredible’ feedback.
Journalist Matt Majiende shared on The Race F1 Podcast how Red Bull’s mechanics and engineers are loving his technical feedback and it ‘lifts the standards’ of the team.
“Yeah, the engineers talk about the Dutch directness, and they love it. As an engineer, literally the Dutch sort of stereotype, perhaps they can be a directness and they love that,” he said.

“The directness Verstappen leaves, you know, no mystery to it. He tells them exactly what he needs, what he wants, and his feedback is astonishing, sometimes very concise, but it’s incredible how good that feedback is.
“And the other part about him being able to extricate everything from the car, the drive that gives to, like Matt Caller, who is his number one mechanic and the mechanics around them.
“They were pushed to a further degree because of what he was doing on track and they lifted their standards. And I feel that what he does kind of lifts the standards throughout the team at kind of every level really.”
