Franco Colapinto has exploded into stardom and is one of the hottest prospects on the Formula 1 grid all of a sudden.

Ever since the Argentine arrived to fill in for Logan Sargeant, he has proven that he belongs in the sport by beating his exceptional teammate – Alex Albon on multiple occasions.

Any doubters have been quashed and all of a sudden, he appears to be under consideration by the Red Bull family.

It’s welcome competition for a seat that historically, just hasn’t had enough options to choose from when it becomes time to make a decision.

Red Bull believe Franco Colapinto has ‘essential’ resilience

It’s no secret that Colapinto has had to face multiple hurdles to enjoy success in his Formula 1 career so far.

A lack of testing mileage, thrown in at the deep end for Williams, and he has shown up on every occasion that they have depended on him and more.

Speaking on The Race’s YouTube channel, Ben Anderson revealed that the 21-year-old has a quality that Red Bull admires a lot.

“Colapinto is not just being considered as a Yuki Tsunoda teammate, there’s a chance, however small, that he goes straight in at Red Bull Racing.

“Red Bull has been impressed by Colapinto’s mentality, as much as his speed against Alex Albon.

“The way he stepped into F1 last minute, with very little preparation and been competitive straight away, has really caught the eye. It showed the kind of steel and resilience that Red Bull thinks is essential for top drivers.”

What are Colapinto’s last options for 2025?

With Sauber’s recent 2025 driver announcement, it means that the only route left onto the Formula 1 grid for next season is with Visa Cash App RB.

In a normal world, Liam Lawson would be expected to slot into that seat, judging by his impressive performances since replacing Daniel Ricciardo.

However, Sergio Perez is one of the reasons why Red Bull is not in the fight for the constructors’ championship this year against Ferrari and McLaren.

It’s something that may ultimately, cost him his seat, allowing Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda to battle it out for a seat alongside the new contender in Colapinto.

Of course, a VCARB seat could be a possibility for Colapinto too, but if there’s a chance of a Red Bull drive, then why not go all guns blazing?
