F1 expert Ralf Schumacher has shed more light on the current internal situation at Red Bull, revealing he has heard that one of the F1 team’s key figures is now on his way out of Milton Keynes.

The Red Bull Racing outfit has been rocked by a mass exodus of key personnel in recent years, with a multitude of the team’s biggest players behind the scenes opting to find greener grass elsewhere on the F1 grid.

Adrian Newey is now running Aston Martin’s charge in the pinnacle of single-seater motor racing, while Will Courtenay and Rob Marshall ply their trade at McLaren, with Gianpiero Lambiase joining them in Woking from 2028.

Of course, Christian Horner’s sacking threw some spanners in the works last year, especially when considering his natural successor, Jonathan Wheatley, had already made the move from Red Bull to Audi (formerly Sauber) prior to his departure.

Now, according to former F1 driver turned TV analyst Ralf Schumacher, another integral part of the Austrian team’s success in recent years with Max Verstappen is also on his way out of Milton Keynes.

Ralf Schumacher has heard Paul Monaghan is ‘on his way out’ of Red Bull

In the latest episode of the Backstage Boxengasse podcast, Schumacher noted how Red Bull’s technical director, Pierre Wache, is on ‘thin ice’ at the moment due to the chassis woes that the RB22 has experienced this year.

Red Bull’s 2026 challenger has been overweight since the start of the season, and it is widely expected that the team have come up with a solution in time for their home race at the Austrian Grand Prix.

On top of that, Schumacher also revealed that he had ‘heard’ chief engineer Paul Monaghan is also ‘on his way out’ of the six-time constructors’ champions’ setup.

The German pundit highlighted Monaghan as one of the only members of the Red Bull garage who stands up to the energy drinks company’s top brass.

As such, Schumacher outlined just how much Red Bull are missing having Helmut Marko, as well as Horner, in their corner, adding, “That’s when you really see who’s missing. I can’t say it often enough: it was simply Dr Marko who was in that role.

He clearly stood up for the team, but also for the drivers, and always took a very clear stance and provided information. That’s what it comes down to, or at least that’s what it boiled down to in the end. And I think that’s just what’s missing.

“All the things he managed to sort out behind the scenes in the end, like finding the right people for the job, we mustn’t forget all that either. All of that is missing now.

“Of course, this new corporate structure is obviously brilliant for the company, but losing such assets as Dr Helmut Marko and Christian Horner… All these people who’ve worked together for over 20 years – that really has an impact on a company.

“Even someone like Oliver Mintzlaff, who’s doing a brilliant job, simply doesn’t have that experience in Formula 1.”
