Racing Bulls CEO Peter Bayer has showered praise on the Italian constructor’s young rookie driver, Arvid Lindblad, highlighting one trait that the 18-year-old shares with a fellow Red Bull stablemate.
Despite being the only rookie on the F1 grid this season, Arvid Lindblad has been racing beyond his years during the first half of his maiden campaign in the pinnacle of motorsport.

In the Racing Bulls head-to-head with teammate Liam Lawson, the Surrey-born driver has managed to hold his own. The New Zealander holds the lead in qualifying and the Grand Prix comparisons, but Lindblad isn’t making it easy for him.
Lindblad is quickly proving that he has what it takes to hang with the very best when it comes to single-seaters, but it is also the work that he puts in behind the scenes that has impressed the higher-ups at the Faenza-based racing outfit.

Peter Bayer says Arvid Lindblad is ‘never satisfied’ like Isack Hadjar
In an interview with CHAMP1 ahead of this weekend’s proceedings at the Hungarian Grand Prix, Racing Bulls CEO Peter Bayer was asked about how Lindblad has settled into life as an F1 driver during his rookie campaign.

The Austrian executive couldn’t be more complimentary of the 18-year-old, highlighting just how highly Helmut Marko rated Lindblad prior to Racing Bulls handing him a full-time race seat for 2026.
“Arvid is the second talent in a row who came out of Dr Helmut Marko’s stable, and Helmut thought very highly of Isack Hadjar, but he always told us to wait until Arvid Lindblad came along,” Bayer began.
“He’s got at least the same potential, and Arvid is incredibly hard-working; he’s one of the first and one of the last at the circuit, works with the engineers every day.
“During the tests at Bahrain, for example, he prepared incredibly thoroughly for how to deal with these new engine regulations, because they’re quite complex to get to grips with, and because he’s never driven anything like this before.”
Bayer then shared an example of Lindblad’s fine attention to detail: “What he did with his race engineer, Pierre Hamelin, was learn it all by heart. He’s learnt every single gear change – regardless of the set-up, where, how or what.

“That hard work, combined with a huge amount of talent, and at the same time he’s incredibly likeable with the staff, with the partners, on-track, off-track; he’s an incredibly great person who, as I said, has that talent, that ‘natural speed’ as they always say, that innate speed.
“He’s got it in him, and this is where he sometimes reminds me of Isack – he’s never satisfied. The other day he came up to me; I’d said, ‘That was very good.’ Then he said, ‘Yes, but is “very good” good enough in Formula 1?’”
