Red Bull Racing are far and away the Championship’s quickest team, but they have been told they’re ‘lucky’ by Jessica Hawkins.

Red Bull ran away with the Constructors’ Championship this season with a current lead of over 300 points. The team have won 16 out of the 17 races this season in a truly dominant campaign.

However of their 657 points, 433 were courtesy of Max Verstappen, which would have him alone 107 points above Mercedes.

The entire season saw the champions stride to comfortable victories in every way, however recently they have began to be challenged again.

McLaren have made huge strides this season which has seen them clearly the second fastest on the grid and the only team who can outpace Red Bull.

McLaren have made a late run which sees them with the chance to rise up to possibly third in the drivers standings if Ferrari falter over the next weeks.

As McLaren improve, Red Bull have been told they are lucky by Aston Martin ambassador Jessica Hawkins.

Red Bull told they are lucky

“I think that actually Red Bull are quite lucky that it’s taken McLaren this long,” Hawkins said on the F1 Nation podcast.

“Because, at the moment, McLaren are doing a very, very good job. They’re quickly catching us as well, which isn’t great, but we will keep pushing.”

This statement shows that many around Formula 1 believe that if McLaren were this fast all season, they could’ve been a serious threat to Christian Horner and co.

This could be a good omen for next season, with McLaren so close to Red Bull we could be in store for a seriously competitive season.

But the likes of Ferrari and Mercedes have a lot of work to do if they are to turn this potential two horse race into a wide open one.
