Max Verstappen may be the only ever three-time reigning champion to hold a 52-point lead in a championship and still be the underdog with six races to go.
His Red Bull team have a lot of work to do in order to ensure that he can take the title down to the wire in Abu Dhabi.
Their car is second best on a good day, which isn’t doing the Dutchman any favours when both McLaren drivers are fulfilling their potential.
He is required to finish second in all remaining races to ensure that a fourth consecutive title comes home to Milton Keynes.

Peter Windsor can see Max Verstappen winning ‘one of the last six’ races
A win would dramatically increase the odds of a title for Verstappen, extending the gap to 60 points in five races (if Norris came second in that race).
That’s unassailable with any retirements you would have to say, and he knows exactly how to play this situation having come up against Lewis Hamilton before.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Peter Windsor predicted Verstappen to win another race before the end of the season.

“I can see Max winning one of the last six races. For a start if it’s wet in any of the last six races in Brazil or Austin. Mexico he might struggle there, Qatar I don’t know, Vegas… No comment.
“I think he can win one. He will be there to pounce if there is an unexpected Safety Car for McLaren or someone else.”
How will the last six races of the 2024 F1 season pan out?
Starting with the upcoming United States Grand Prix, Red Bull will be bringing some vital upgrades to spice the championship picture up.
At the Italian Grand Prix a few weeks ago, they were the fourth-fastest car and slowest in the speed trap during a dismal weekend.
They’re aware that they cannot afford another one of those in the middle of what is a very finely poised fight.

The new parts should make the car faster, but there’s no guarantee of that, as McLaren showed with a floor upgrade earlier in the season.
They may be forced to run that same floor if things get tight and they’re forced to dig every tenth they can out from underneath their car.
