Oliver Bearman discusses his ‘strong connection’ with Ferrari amid rumours about his F1 future.
In 2024, Oliver Bearman made his debut in the Formula 1 World Championship with Ferrari at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix as he replaced Carlos Sainz.
During his debut, he scored points and secured a place at Haas for the 2025 season, in which he scored points on multiple occasions and outscored his experienced teammate, Esteban Ocon.
Bearman has remained with Haas for the 2026 season, and began the season with point-scoring finishes with a seventh place in Australia and a fifth place in China.
The British driver’s recent form has put Bearman back in the spotlight as rumours continue to suggest that he could make his way to Ferrari for the 2027 Formula 1 season.

Oliver Bearman credits his ‘strong connection’ with Ferrari
When asked about any potential move to Ferrari on the Back at Base podcast, Bearman discussed his chance at a move to Ferrari for 2027.
Originally, he denied his chances of moving to Ferrari, and placed his future with Haas, but did credit his ‘strong connection’ with Ferrari for the reason that he is in Formula 1.
Bearman said, “First of all, my job is not to do that; if there are any talks, it is between my manager and whatever team he goes to talk to.
“I still have a very strong connection with Ferrari; they are the reason I am here today with Haas, they are the reason I was able to race in Formula 3 and Formula 2. Without them, I would not be sitting here, full stop. They have been hugely beneficial to me, and picked me up at a time that was really necessary to have a driver academy picking you up. It is great to have that connection with Ferrari and to have that peace of mind.
“Of course, I made my debut with Ferrari, which was an incredible feeling, and right now my future lies with Haas. I want to do everything possible to help this team. We had some incredible experiences last year, so at the moment I want to maximise what we can do with this regulation set.
“Whatever comes will be a result of this year, so it is in my interest to do as well as possible. At the moment, I am focused on this year, which is a big mountain to climb.”

The ‘future is bright’ with Oliver Bearman and Ferrari
During the Chinese Grand Prix, Anthony Davidson spoke highly of Bearman after David Croft suggested that Bearman may be a Ferrari driver in the future.
Davidson said, “I love watching him race. He’s been really fast all weekend; he was in Melbourne as well. I think the future is very bright with that young man.”
However, when the Ferrari rumours first surrounded Bearman they suggested that he would replace Lewis Hamilton in the team due to his poor form during the 2025 season.
But Roberto Chinchero from Sky Sports Italia, has suggested that Hamilton’s form at the start of 2026 has ‘changed the whole picture’ for Bearman and Ferrari.
