Max Verstappen’s relentless criticism of the new F1 regulations has not gone down well with fans, as many are calling out his seeming hypocrisy.
Verstappen’s race in Shanghai ended early, as Red Bull told him to retire the car after an ERS issue. It was yet another disappointing moment for the once-dominant Dutch ace.
Verstappen was clearly frustrated with Red Bull, given that he had been on the back foot for almost the entire race before his DNF.
Is Toto Wolff planting the seeds for poaching Max Verstappen from Red Bull? 🤔
Max’s Red Bull is significantly overweight, and the former four-time World Champion has proclaimed he won’t win another race until things change.
But outside of Red Bull’s internal issues, Max Verstappen has not been happy with the new F1 regulations. And his latest comments seem to have been the last straw for fans.

F1 fans growing tired of Max Verstappen’s latest complaints about new regulations
After the race, Max Verstappen had some more pointed comments about the new F1 regulations, labelling them a ‘joke.’
“It’s a joke. I’d say the same thing if I won. If anyone actually finds this funny, then they don’t understand what racing is all about.”
Verstappen’s dislike of the new regulations has been no secret. But it appears fans have grown tired of the Red Bull star’s relentless complaining.
One frustrated fan wrote, “Yeah, mate, we’ve seen your arrogance in the GE era when you were with your spaceship and others were breaking their backs with porpoising.”
Another fan jabbed that Verstappen’s frustration comes from Red Bull’s failures, noting, “I’d be saying the same thing too if I was battling with Haas, Alpine and VCARB.”
A third fan agreed with Max, but not entirely, saying, “I get the point of overtaking on straights but the wheel-to-wheel racing on the corners is just 100000 times better.”
“Artificial? Yes, but the same thing was being said with DRS in 2011. Do I prefer this over DRS trains and no overtakes for 50+ laps? Absolutely yes,” wrote a fourth fan who vouched for the new regulations.
Another fan added, “Although it’s very fun to watch as a viewer, especially as a Mercedes fan waiting for their come-up, I think the racing element has definitely taken a hit.”
“It’s not about cars stuck to floor and dive bombing with mega DRS, that’s for sure. Skill issues,” wrote a sixth fan who believes Max is complaining now that he isn’t winning.
And one final fan added that Verstappen’s feelings would be different were he competitive, arguing, “Put him in Hamilton’s or Charles place, in that battle we had today, and he would never say that…”

What’s gone wrong for Red Bull?
Max Verstappen’s frustrations with F1 regulations could cost him
Max Verstappen has not been shy when it comes to criticising the new F1 regulations. His comments above are the latest in a long line of scathing remarks.
There is some concern that Verstappen could be fined for his comments, as the Dutch star grows more and more frustrated with the situation.
Verstappen’s concerning issues with Red Bull aren’t helping matters either, as he finds himself in a difficult position with the team for the first time in years.
Hopefully, Verstappen’s line of communication with FIA officials leads to some resolution on this matter. Otherwise, we could see his already-turbulent season get further derailed with fines and penalties.
