Red Bull Racing star Max Verstappen has shared the one aspect of last season’s incredible car that annoyed him during the season.

It’s amazing to think that Max Verstappen could have any gripes with the RB19 considering it won every race during the 2023 season except the Singapore Grand Prix.

Speaking to Auto Motor und Sport, Verstappen was reflecting on a historic Formula 1 season and looking forward to the future.

The Dutch star was asked which two drivers he would hire if he were a team principal and decided he would poach an already established pair.

Focus at Red Bull would have been on this year’s car for some time now, given the gap they had over the rest of the field in 2023.

From the outside, it looks like Adrian Newey and his designers have their work cut out trying to find a way to make that car even quicker this year.

However, Verstappen has shared the one aspect of Red Bull’s championship-winning car that annoyed him last year.

His rivals are unlikely to have much sympathy for him given he stood on the top step of the podium on 19 occasions.

It’s a worrying thought for the rest of the grid if the team manage to find a way to address his concerns.

Verstappen shares what annoyed him about 2023 Red Bull car

Asked what specifically bothered him about last year’s car, Verstappen said: “It’s the driving behaviour. That our car doesn’t absorb bumps like others do.

“In slow corners, our car is simply not as dominant as in other places. In fast corners, for example, it is very good.”

The thing about Max Verstappen is that he’s always been a perfectionist and Red Bull would have been all too aware that he was still annoyed with aspects of the RB19 despite its dominance.

His stance is shared by Christian Horner and Helmut Marko and it’s how Red Bull have gone from a midfield team to regular championship winners in the last 20 years.

Red Bull are in pole position to win both titles in 2024 and 2025 such is the gap over the likes of Mercedes, Ferrari and McLaren.

What will be really interesting is if they can do what Mercedes couldn’t a few years ago and maintain that dominance over more than one era of Formula 1.
