Red Bull have reportedly been hit with another departure following Gianpiero Lambiase’s confirmed move to McLaren.
It was reported on Thursday morning that Lambiase had agreed to leave Red Bull to join McLaren in 2028.
McLaren and Red Bull later confirmed the deal, with Lambiase set to join the Woking-based outfit as Chief Racing Officer, reporting to team principal Andrea Stella.
Before McLaren’s official statement, Stella was being linked with a return to Ferrari.

Although the move will not happen until 2028, Lambiase will join a long line of Red Bull departures.
The likes of Adrian Newey, Jonathan Wheatley, Will Courtenay and Craig Skinner have all left the team in recent times, while veteran mechanic Ole Schack has also handed in his resignation.

Following the Lambiase news, it has been reported that another senior Red Bull figure could be on his way out.
As reported by Planet F1, Max Verstappen’s number one mechanic, Jon Caller, has decided to leave Red Bull.
It has been claimed that Caller has ‘opted’ to join twin brother Matt in leaving the Milton Keynes-based outfit.
Taking to social media, Matt confirmed his Red Bull departure and also announced his move to Audi.
He wrote on Instagram: “After an incredible journey that began in 2015, today marks my final day with @redbullracing. What a ride it has been.
“Being part of this journey has been nothing short of amazing. Thank you to everyone at the team who made it so special. I’m proud to have been part of it.
“Now I’m excited to begin a new chapter, joining @audif1 team as Chief Mechanic. I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead and to being part of building something new. On to the next chapter.”

Why did McLaren sign Gianpiero Lambiase from Red Bull?
Having worked with Verstappen since 2016, Lambiase has played a vital role in helping the Dutchman win four consecutive world titles.
As a result of his successful relationship with Verstappen and Red Bull, Lambiase became one of the most respected figures within the F1 paddock.
Explaining their decision on their official website, McLaren stated that the decision to bring Lambiase on board was ‘designed to strengthen and support the talent pool that exists’ within the team.
Meanwhile, the 45-year-old’s arrival will allow Stella to focus on other aspects of leading the McLaren team forward.
