It appears Red Bull have taken a page out of their rivals’ playbook and implemented Ferrari’s halo flap innovation ahead of the Miami Grand Prix.

Ferrari tested their winglet after FIA approval despite attempts from rival teams to try and get it barred. But it’s one of their other innovations that has caught the eye of Red Bull.

Red Bull, despite having a strong engine, have not performed well this season, primarily due to the work they’ve done on the RB22 chassis.

Red Bull seemingly adding key Ferrari innovation during Silverstone testing

According to Motorsport Italy, Red Bull have reportedly ‘copied’ Ferrari’s halo flap innovation and implemented it during the recent hiatus in the season.

Furthermore, Max Verstappen was spotted testing the RB22 at Silverstone, and the halo flap was present on the car during these tests.

It appears Red Bull have decided to add the halo flap ahead of the Miami Grand Prix, possibly seeing Ferrari’s success with it this season.

Red Bull have known they need to improve the chassis to try and be more competitive after their dismal start to the season.

But it appears Red Bull have made changes beyond the introduction of the halo flap inspired by Ferrari in preparation for the season resuming

Red Bull testing new winglet innovation they ‘suddenly’ copied from rival teams

According to RacingNews365, Red Bull have looked to make some big changes to recover the ground they’ve lost this season.

In pursuit of that goal, Red Bull have added winglets on the endplates of the wings, a feature multiple teams implemented onto their cars.

The winglets help in keeping downdrafts under control for drivers on the track, allowing for more stability while racing.

The limited effort Red Bull put into the RB22’s chassis has led to them making some serious changes to their car. The hope is that these changes can help them turn their season around.
