Visa Cash App RB driver Liam Lawson is far from Red Bull star Sergio Perez’s favourite person right now.
Liam Lawson and Sergio Perez’s battle during the Mexico City Grand Prix was one of the biggest talking points of an incident-filled race.

The 20th Grand Prix of a fascinating 2024 F1 season handed Carlos Sainz his season – and potential final – victory of the season with Ferrari before he joins Williams next year.
Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc joined the Spaniard on the podium with the Brit putting another dent in Max Verstappen’s Drivers’ Championship lead.
For RB, it was yet another pointless weekend, with Lawson’s ninth-place finish on his second debut in Austin their only top-ten finish in the last six races.
It means RB have fallen from sixth to seventh in the team standings with Haas leapfrogging them and setting their sights on Aston Martin.
The driver’s market has taken a back seat for eight teams on the grid with their line-ups already confirmed for 2025.
RB and Sauber are the only manufacturers yet to decide their final pairings, but Perez’s struggles could also have an effect on who ends up driving where in the Red Bull family.
Martin Brundle was commentating on the race for Sky Sports F1 and analysing Lawson’s future.
After watching him at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, Brundle believes he now knows which F1 team Lawson is ‘most likely’ to drive for next season.

At one point in the race, Lawson and Perez were battling on track and things got very intense.
The pair ended up getting too close for comfort and Brundle disagreed with Damon Hill on whether Lawson should have been penalised.

Before their fight ensued, Brundle was asked about the Kiwi’s future and said: “Yeah, Lawson [is] in the points at the moment.
“I think he unquestionably has a future in the Red Bull empire on the grid somewhere next year but it’ll be interesting to see where.

“As you point out, most likely in the seat behind him right now [Sergio Perez’s Red Bull].
“But I think Sergio Perez will be satisfied with the opening phase of this Grand Prix as will his fans in the grandstands.”
Ralf Schumacher makes worrying prediction about Sergio Perez’s future
There are already a handful of drivers on the grid who know their F1 careers are about to come to an end.
Zhou Guanyu’s best hopes of staying in Formula 1 are as a reserve driver with Sauber set to go in a different direction with their line-up after a three-year relationship with the Chinese driver.
There are also no guarantees that his teammate Valtteri Bottas will be back on the grid in 2025.
Kevin Magnussen has already seen Haas confirm two new drivers, leaving him to explore other opportunities, while Daniel Ricciardo has already made way for Lawson after a failed attempt to return to Red Bull.
Logan Sargeant has already lost his seat and his replacement Franco Colapinto looks less and less likely to find a seat, even if Red Bull have been linked with Colapinto.
Ralf Schumacher believes Perez is also on his way out of F1, and might not even see out the rest of the season.
It would be a sad way for one of F1’s longest-serving drivers to see his career come to an end, but he’s not come close to the levels expected of him.
